Stator blown at 23K?

In the case of the 955 stator, at least, yes, much better. Better and cheaper, too.

Hi,

I'm the guy with the ape's and darkside tyre, not sure whats going on with mine either, but it sounds very similar, mine is also a 2011 r3r, on the second reg now, the sparky put a 35 amp on it now, I have since removed ape's and fixed some wires in there that looked suss, moved the reg to under the headlight where the horn was, put a little heavier wire to join it all up, seems ok, but the abs light has come again, last time it done this it seemed like the reg died, but not sure this time, tested out fine but, charging the battery at 13.8 volts which has increased from 13.4 before the abs light had come on, i'm now at a loss to what the problem could be, I would be interested in finding out what your problem is.

usually the abs light comes on because of a mis match of tire circumstance. we have seen this when the guys change tire sizes.

my tech thought initially the regulator and replaced it. ran a day and the same thing happened, total shut down. replaced it again, thinking it may have been a bad regulator and the same thing happened. at low idle, like at the shop, it wouldn't get picked up, but at high rpms, it overcharged the battery and melted a wire. Leading to the Stator being the culprit. ideas?

the rockets have a problem with the ign switch and it tends to melt the solder at white wire.
i don"t like to second guess other mechanics because they have the bike and access to more info from you.
i don't know what wire melted but if it was the white wire on the ign. switch i would replace ign. switch before doing anything else.
if you have any alternator shops there. i would go in and try to get some info from them. maybe let them check to get a second opinion.

Well guys, the new reg dies on Saturday night 80klm's away from home, this is bull**** I have always wanted a rocket and this has turned me right off it, if the stator is dead I don't want to have to pull the motor out and spend so much money fixing it only to have it do it again, I bought one of these due to there reliability so far not a real good run, I'm sick to death of it and will gladly label the machine a POS, the apes and darkside have zero affect on the electrical system so doubtful they had anything to do with it, VERY PISSED OFF ROCKET OWNER............ The bike shop gets a piece of my mind and my solicitor tomorrow as I have not had the ****en thing for 3 months and it has left me stranded more time than I ride the ****en thing..........Sorry about the language but I have had a gut full of this bike.....

While many Triumph models are known for weak stators (955s, 675s, and 600 4s), I don't think the Rocket is one of them, I can't recall hearing of another stator failure on a Rocket?

I'm having the same problems with my regulator replaced it 3-4 times now the last one only worked for 20 minutes paid $140 -$40 for an aftermarkets but the wiring from eastern beaver had the stator checked last yeat told it was ok I didn't really think that was the problem but hat it check for peace of mind.
So I'm going nuts trying to research "whats up!" I even created on other post "regulators" earlier today hoping some knows something

Listen to Turbo!
I sympathize that this is VERY frustrating. I have done apes on other motors. I do not agree with your statement they have nothing to do with electrics. There are many wires involved requiring a lot of splicing and things can get complicated. Lots of chance for a mistake there that'll affect your wiring in many different ways. 90% of the time these 'lectrical gremlins are caused by us!
Good luck and I hope you solve your problems soon.

I have pulled the apes apart and rechecked and replaced all wiring for piece of mind, it's not hard to follow colors and so on, I have since heard of several more with the same issue, It can't just be my apes, I even moved my reg/rec to get more air flow thus making it cooler as I was told they do get very hot causing failure, but honestly I have not heard of anyone having them go either, all models I have heard with dead rec/reg and stator seem to be 2011 model R3R, must be bad batch maybe, It has done my head in chasing this one, I am by no means a noob when it comes to wiring and electrical work, chasing things is hard, but also very logical so when everything points to one issue no matter were you start looking then it must be, the more you over complicate things the harder it becomes and the more you second guess everything, The bike shop told me today they will be picking my ride up tomorrow morning and sending it to there Triumph specialist as they know all about these wiring issues and stock recall's so lets hope they find my gremlin and fix it, I'm about ready to loose it with this bike. Thank you for your feedback as it is always helpful to get an outside opinion on the matter.

mines 2008 and having the same issues, waiting to see what you find out
my bike has 15.500 miles I'm the 3rd owner and just completed the test on my stator myself turns out I should have done this in the first place

My readings

any pin to engine ground = OL

PINS
1-2 0 omhs 0 volts
2-3 0 omhs 0 volts
3-1 0 omhs 0 volts

Really hard to believe with suck low miles
