So what's next ?

I appreciate the efforts toward self moderation, and also appreciate how hard it can be at times. As Terry pointed out, many topics raised tend to intersect with politics on some level. Many here know my feelings on some of these subjects through personal communication. And those who have been here for many years have come to understand the constraints under which we operate.

Thanks again to all for understanding, and for contributing to the site. And I hope I never see the day I when I choose to ride or drive a glorified toaster.

I tip my glass to you friend. And appreciate the warning to keep low in the trenches when needed. Now please define ...” toaster” lol. I know that if n when I become feeble enough to need to buy one of those four wheel electric buggy things to get around in, I’m going to swap out the electric engine with the 22HP Briggs n Stratton engine in my ride on lawn mower. That engine is a beast !!!

Okay lol. “ toaster” as in electric? I get it now. I’m a tad slow tonight

Thinking about buying a glorified toaster, will wait another year or 2, when the used ones start coming out at half price and the bugs worked out under warranty by previous owner, i'm too lazy to deal with new stuff

My worry about “toasters” is that without the physical sensation, and governance of gear shifting. And the engines audible queues. The speeds electric engines create will exceed the average riders abilities. On motorcycles in particular. But that’s probably just because I’m an old codge. The youngins will probably pick up that sh@@ like Goerge Jetson .

Actually, the statement "Loud Pipes Saves Lives" makes bikers believe that they will be heard. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. Granted, in your scenario with a car at standstill and with you throbbing next to her, she would have possible noticed you, but a distracted driver is a distracted driver...
When I listen to music in my car on a hot day with the windows closed and the aircon on, I don't hear motorcycles, no matter how loud their pipes. I'd rather be visible than rely on exhaust noise to be noticed. Bright lights being in the right place on the road for drivers to see you is a much safer bet.
