All,

On a slight tangent to the thread, I was wondering what kind of gas mileage folks with the CES pipes and Triple K&Ns of RamAir filter are getting, - and how you ride.

Thanks!

Mark
Not being smart or trying to offend anyone but I don't really care what fuel mileage I get. If I wanted fuel economy I wouldn't be riding a Rocket.

I think @1olbull burned his jeans with his feet up on Hyway pegs. The pipes are going to be hot up at the first 2 bends no matter what make or design of pipes your running. Heat shields up there would be just ugly. An S shaped shield knocked up out of stainless from the collector to the muffler might be handy to keep the wet gear from melting when stopped at the lights but Best advice I can give is suck it up, you can't have everything.

EXACTLY correctamundo, Mate!
The bend of the center pipe, just aft of the CES logo.
Not a problema if on the stock peg. My issue is with having a bad right hip that allows me only a few minutes on the stock right peg. I have gotten pretty adept at using my right heel for rear braking and trail braking in the twisties.

Hi TOMCAT,

That bloke is incorrect. The effect is described by Max Planck's theory of black body radiation. The link is rather more in- depth than warranted, and a better example is a commonplace situation: A white car and a black car are both out in the sun, - which feels hotter to the touch?

Mark
Mate I don't have a clue who Max Planck is ... but I reckon i'll believe the bloke that's had 25+ years experience building exhaust systems for all sorts of bikes ;)

I'm just fitting up the Rebands onto my bike .. heatshield that Ponters had made is a real work of art and hopefully will help with the radiated heap. Removed the wrap from the headers and hoping I won't have to run it. See how we go I guess.

So have you got the muffler sorted mate?

Going to run the Reband muffler but with a shortened 'custom' cover thing... just were leg sits when sitting at lights. Getting a 02 bung welded onto it and bring it over to Qld and get it recoated. A couple of the nuts need to be welded back onto the headers , ones that hold the heatshield on. Thinking i'll replace all the nuts with longer ones ... so there's more gap/air between headers and shield. The hardchrome on my forklegs was cactus , back to metal at the back. Luckily I have spare set of forks with little use. Getting the bottom legs powder coated silver like the forks before the new fork seals go in.

The small heat shield I made stays completely cool (can rest my hand on it) because of the gap and I guess also because it stands free of the pipe -it's mounted to the Foran shield at the back only. Can't wait to see how yours turns out mate.

Mrs Boudreaux told me that @Boudreaux has burn marks on every one of his jeans from his Rebands.

:eek::p:D
Guess I was lucky to have only worn/burned one pair of my Dickies.
I reckon to install a leather patch and create a right leg leather leggin.
