Rocket Owners Northwest

With all this RAA Montrose planning, I have become aware that we have a fair number of Rocketeers up here in the Northwest corner.

I thought it may be fun to know who and where our neighbor riders are.
Might even be fun to get together sometime to bend an elbow or two.
Perhaps in the Tri City area so we can include Rocket Roger, who likely won't yet be recovered enough to ride. I have the below information so far . . .
Just a thought,
1olbull

1olbull - Steve - Tacoma,WA
Phil R - Phil - Kennewick, WA

When are you planning the hookup in Vernal. We will be going through there on the 22nd from Wyoming

That would be Cool Beans! I figure to hook up with Rolltide in Vernal on the 21st. Take him and his better half out to din-din and find a hotel for the night. Get off early like 8 or 9 AM Sunday the 22nd and ride into Montrose (only about 200 miles).

Welcome Ardbeg Man!
PS: WTF is a ardbeg????

Highly recommend the Best Western in Vernal but breakfast across the street. NOT the freeby at JB's under any circumstances!
I have a 3 hour ride to Vernal from Evanston WY.

I'm down with that Best Western and breakfast idea. So, why don't you take yourself an easy 3 hour day and crash with us - or - start early like 6 AM and hook up with us in Vernal around 9 AM?
I'm going to have to figure this tag team ride out for myself pretty soon heh heh heh.

6 am in Evanston Wyoming is not pretty! The Gorge is less exciting especially on the Utah side (UHP). Might just have to come a little earlier to Vernal. **** good Mexican at Don Pedros just inside Vernal. Libations in Utah are "antiquated" however (BYOB). Suds are less than expected. Will definitely ruin a good pizza...

We'll meet you in Vernal on the 21st

Plan so far is to make Vernal on the 21st and din-din somewhere with Rolltide. Spend the night then head out in morning for Montrose, 200 miles or so.

Very well.
Shall keep you informed if any changes and progress.

Sorry, been off for a while on a ski trip and with a recent dump of 16 inches of new snow my hopes of getting on the Rocket by early April have been set back a bit!! Ardbeg is a wonderful whisky from the Isle of Islay off the west coast of Scotland...I made a foray there last year for the sole purpose of visiting a number of Scotch whisky distilleries. I started drinking single malt Scotch several years ago and it has turned into a bit of a passion. Along with Ardbeg, the famous "Laphroigh" and "Laugavulin" also come from Islay.

But back to the passion of Rockets...I hope to someday soon ride the girl down the Alaska/Canadian highway sometime and meet up with other Rocket Riders from the Pacific Northwest. As far as I know, there is only one other Rocket here in Alaska and when I tried to meet up with him for some riding and camraderie he pretty much signaled he didint care much for other Rocketeers.

There are several great expression of Ardbeg, but for the beginner I recommend the standard "10 Year Old" available at most larger liquer stores-but be aware that Ardbeg, like most Islay whiskies, is heavily peated and thus not for everyones palet. If you are new to single malts I recommend starting out with a Scotch from the "Speyside" region of Scotland. -Doug

Ardbeg,
Thanks for the dope. I be pretty much drongo regarding Scotch - definitely not so much regarding good ol' Tennessee whiskey.
I do know of Laphroigh as I bough a bottle for a friend as a favor for his help with my work. Was a tad taken aback at the cost; however.
Just never could get into the unique taste of Scotch with one exception - Oban.

Let me know if you make it to the Seattle-Tacoma area, I'll come meet you for a beverage - or two - or three . . .
