Rocket lll Touring NO CONFIDENCE

Odd. My touring has been more reliable than my Bonneville. They both have about the same mileage except with the Bonnie I usually do 30 miles at a time (commuting) and the Rocket close to (or many times over) 100 miles, 2 up and passing long lines of cars/HDs. The only problem I've had with the Rocket is bad luck with tires. About 5k in got a metal object in the rear skin, and in another month later the tire wouldn't hold air. Thankfully I had the tire warranty, so it was at someone else's expense.
 
Can't beat that tire/wheel warranty. Already paid for my rear tire, and mounting too. I bought it mainly for the wheel part, figuring it would be pretty easy to wack a wheel, if a flat happens to come off the rim. I now run Ride-on in both tires, and even got some for my Jeep. Takes a whole lot of worry away, and does a very good job at balancing too. I took all the little CO2 bottles, tire plugs, reamer, etc. out of my saddle bag. Can carry a gallon of milk now, no problem.
 
I would like that Piper Cub. Going to Orlando in August for a reunion of my unit from Vietnam at Shades of Geen on Disney. I hope they being in the RU-8D again. Flew in the right seat at the last reunion. Blast from the past. 138th Aviation Company (Radio Research).
 
Mine blew out the detent shifter spring at 15k miles. Happy to have the extended warranty, but same for me. When I get too far out I start wondering, and I'd be leary to go long distance without a list of shops on the route. But she is beautiful to look at. Probably 1 more season and she's someone elses toy.
 

One 'very minor' issue and you're ready to ditch it .. guess it's the way some people look at things these days .. trade when out of warranty.
 
After i put risers on , i had to reroute the cables , , so after doing so , i noticed that the clutch cable was stretching a bit , and really at its full capacity , then after 20,000 klm it gave way , but under warranty Triumph gave me a new cable , but for my own peice of mind , i purchased one 2" longer and since then i've not had any problems , , But i only get approx 7-8000 klm out of a back tyre and approx 10,000 klm out of a front tyre .

I did go on a long trip and needed a new tyre when i was in unfamiliar territory , so i rang Hanso , who very kindly rang around for me and told me who had one and where to go ect , (once again thanks hanso ).

But other than that the bike has given me 55,000 klm of trouble free riding , I even got a free download to give it more oomph and more torque , , but i am thinking of ringing mr bloor and complaining , after all if they made the canbles longer , made the bike a bit lighter , and gave me more power in the first place , i would'nt of needed to be stressed out would i .

I don't know if you guys saw this announcement and I can't remember where or from whom I rec'd it, but Triumph USA has implemented a 24x7 emergency hotline for we owners that will provide us with info, directions and/or help getting to or in touch with their dealerships should we have a need.

It's a step in the right direction, but they have a long way to go, IMO, to develop a more robust and reliable dealership and parts network
