Rocket lll Touring NO CONFIDENCE

Harsh advice from the Scot, but he's right about the low usage.
Funny bikes these Rockets. Some go like the Energizer bunny, some not.

Dave, (The Scott) is correct, the other day i went to buy a battery for the blackbird since it went down from sitting for long time, the mechanic asked me how much i ride the bike, i told him about 500 miles a year and he said WHAT???
he said no disrespect intended but you need your ass kicked for neglecting that bike by not riding it!

Did you tell him you can not seem to get yourself away feom the Rocket?

So sorry you're having all that trouble. I have an '08 standard R3 purchased in 2010 with 10,300 miles on it. I have added a few simple touring mods and after next week will have 30,000 plus miles on it with no problems except a horn failure.

I bought an 08 Standard Rocket last spring with 4800 miles on it. I've put more than 20,000 miles since then, basically trouble free.

The only problem mine has had was a broken lifter piece in the clutch. Took me less than 3 hrs to fix it myself. In all honesty the broken lifter piece was my fault, clutch not adjusted correctly.

If you are competent to make repairs, get a factory repair manual and make them. If not I would recommend Erico Motorsports in Denver, a reputable dealer.

Other option, sell it and take a chance on something else.

These Rockets are good pieces of machinery but even if you are mechanically inclined you need a factory shop manual and an torque wrench.

when i traded my r3t it had over 58000 miles on it in 3 years bought it new
running a c/t on it the only problem i had was a blown head gasket the tps and then the final drive but part of that was the other end did not get greased on thr transmission side
