Rocket III Engine Swap

Figured having gone to the trouble of swapping engines, i might as well post up a thread about it with a few pics,, someone might enjoy it

The manual has a section on engine removal and replace, so no need for any additional guidelines, maybe just a few tips here & there.

Engine weight taken by jack, rear end of chassis weight taken by hoist

Position of straps on chassis

Removing swingarm

Drive shaft exposed

Undoing the chassis/engine fixings

I hope it's not too late, but make sure you remove the oil sending unit before you pull the frame off. They break easy

I may have missed any previous discussion on this (sorry to ask again if there is a previous thread) but it looks like you have swapped in a S/Charged engine in?

What was the motivation to swap?....Cheers

Lifting the rear end up, note the zero clearance on the oil pressure switch position

Rear frame clears engine vertically, so front now being hoisted up too

Frame up off the engine, engine lowered on jack to be taken away

Also, pay attention to how the wires come down the left rear side of the engine. Other than that, it's on.
Bigger motor? Whats the reason for the swap

Ready to jack other engine up into frame, so front engine mounts can be fitted loosely

Doing up the rear engine mounts

And their locking collars

Connecting up everything, wiring, plumbing

Also the engine earth cable, starter cables all shiny'd up and greased before connecting

Cleaning and checking the swingarm bearings

Greasing up the sockets, bearings next

Cleaned internally, greased and ready to refit

ECU swap (if needed)

Clean up final drive and refit
