Relay is burned out! Opened it up and there's burn marks.

Going to try and get a couple new ones tomorrow. Hopefully the cause and not a symptom!
 
R U SURE U LOOKED UNDER THE REAR FENDER TO SEE IF THE wires r still in good shape.
if every thing works good till u use the turn signal switch then i would say that the problem is in the wiring after the switch. because the switch selects both left and right i think the switch is ok. some captains have had trouble with the instrument assembly.
in the beginning u said your heated grips worked even when they where off if that was the case i would look at that real close and would disconnect as a check might be just a bad switch or may be a short.

I had the same problem on my Classic. After about 2 hours of checking I found the wire coming from the front left hand indicator had been trapped between the forks and chassis on full lock when I put the steering lock on,
It did not cut through it just compressed the wire enough to cause a short. Its worth a look.

Had the same problem, was one of the relays under the side cover - I'm not savy with electrical (neither was the first dealer I took it too) - but the second picked it up and replaced it in 2 seconds. Blinkers went, followed by headlights etc.
 
Turns out that it's a dead short in the rear indicators so they're going to replace both of them.

Also got a rubbing in the front right caliper so they'll sort that too.

Should have it back next weekend!
