has any one fitted/fabricated explorer type hard panniers to there bike ?
i have a set of new trax panniers and already got a triumph back rest fitted,any pics of anyone who has done this.
they will only be going on when i am touring includung the back rest.??????

Hi tails, my Roadster doesn't have "real ADV" cases, if you mean aluminum. It has Caribou Cases (40 liters each) Caribou Luggage Systems
mounted on Hepco & Becker frame rails from the US importer: Welcome to Moto Machines - Importer and Distributor for Hepco & Becker
I mounted the cases so the bottoms are 2" above the mufflers, also fitted reflective/insulating layer to the bottom of each.
The bags are quickly detachable, but are so handy that I always ride with them on. Here are some pics:

I will look for the picture I found on Facebook's R3 Owner's page, but some guy put Givi hard luggage on his roadster including a trunk and it looked really sweet. I plan on doing some travel myself and have been toying with luggage. I liked how streamlined the Givi system looked, but it came with a price tag. Luckily, you already have your luggage, so that isn't a problem.

I presently run large leather bags hard mounted on a universal bracket system. Hard mounting the bags to the bracket was the ONLY way I could keep the bag off the pipes on long rides. Previously, no matter what I did, the **** things just kept working loose enough to sit on the pipes. I have been riding with the current config for about a year and have not had a worry since.

Corbin Beetle Bags

However I would hate to pay $2000 for bags that I can't even put my full face helmet inside. I've sized the Corbins up and find it hard to fit my "work/lunch bag" inside them. I guess my bag could be crammed in but for that kind of money they it should fall inside. They are nice don't get me wrong but I can't afford them. I could.... but I'd have to eat out of McDonald's trash cans for awhile.

What gets me is the bags Triumph offers aren't hard bags, not a stand out stylish bag, and seems like they don't hold there shape long. Why not offer a hard bag as well as the gay bag? I have the Triumph "gay bags" and they hold my helmet and work bag without issues.

After a while they start looking something like this... note the Triumph emblem is a option you have to buy:

Yeah I'm not saying I like the Triumph bags but I guess they are better than nothing. I have to cable lock my helmet and stick it in the bag. There are cheaper hard bag options but they just don't look good on the bike. There is one member that installed "bags" like your discussing. He got the boxes from Harbor Freight.
