Michelin commander II are about the best tire I have ever run on a bike. Prefer the commanders over the Elite 3. Not saying the Elite three is a bad tire. Run Michelin's on the Harley and it works out rather well. Better traction and longer lasting tire. Handles really good on wet pavement. Harley caught on to this and is now offering some of there modals with Michelin's vice Dunlap. I wonder if filling the metz. with lemon pledge vice air would improve the performance of the tire?//o_Oo_Oo_Oo_Oo_Oo_Oo_Oo_O
I have tried the Commander II and liked it in fact loved it, as while just carving the twisties it was by far the best:thumbsup: ... but ..... found out it did not like the camper trailer weight the back the extra load on the front resulted with some scary front end under steering badly to the point it nearly put me in a ditch:eek: also wear was not real good so I will stick to the Elite 3 as it has the best allround performance allowing me to confidently push hard thru twisties and still get great controll while touring with the Camper on the back:)

If Michelin made a 240/16 I'd switch instantly without question. They are, in my experience, hands down the best tire manufacturer for cycles.
I agree and if they made the commander in a 150/80/17 I would be all over it as I think the smaller size contributed to my front end washing out under load with camper on the back

33 is 1 less PSI than triumph recommends, at 33 I refill it to 38, do you see how your argument is invalid? How do I always know it's at 33? It starts to wiggle when cornering, so I go fill it.

Metzlers are garbage, always have been, always will be.

Tire Pressure.jpg

You know there's an Ignore function right???

...as for your initial query...my Metz wore the same...and I am anally retentive when it comes to pressures. Mine never got below 36 and most of the time was closer to 40psi. The extra pressure helped handling at high speed, but like everyone else has stated it's still a POS and the cobra is infinitely better

YOUR towing a trailer so thats not an issue for 99 percent of the ROCKET owners the bikes are not designed for that use and your running a car tire on the rear to further screw things up so I bet thats a real handfull

I am on my second set of Cobra's and my front cupped bad on the first one and I had 24,000km on it. I had 3mm left on it and I changed it out at Sturgis this year. There was no chance I was going to wear it out, it shook bad on decel. Doesn't change my mind about running the Avon's though, that's why there is another fresh one on it.

for what it is worth
i bought my bike with a new metz on the front and rear the bike handled good but the tire cupped bad i replaced the front with a metz. i have a bad habit of forgetting to put on my sun glasses so i get up to about 50 mph and take both hands and put the sun glasses on. so i did this with the new metz and when i took both hands and had the glasses just about on the handle bars started a violent shake (almost a tank slapper). no more metz for me
with the cobra all is good.

Guessing once a new tire is on it removes some of the skittishness, for lack a better word, from the front end?
I reluctantly replaced the original Metz front and back tire with only 3,500 miles on the bike. I was going for a long road trip and didn't want to have the down time replacing them later during the trip. I went with Avon front and Exedra Max rear. I could not believe how bad the Metzler tires were in comparison! Incredible POS tires! I felt like I had a completely different bike. Extremely nimble, and way more confident feeling under all conditions, wet, dry, heavy twisties.
Get rid of the Metzlers fast! You won't believe the difference!

BTW the Avon front and Exedra Max rear show almost no sign of wear at 7,000 miles and zero cupping on the Avon front.

And You Have No Fu#king Idea So Don't Bother Answer My Posts.
It was basicly the smaller Size and Front diameter of the Commander II that caused the Under Steer Issue, If you Read My post Properly
