Roadster Colours

That is good news on the new colors availability...my dealer (D&D's in Pensacola) pretty much told me that when I was home a week and a half ago (was it that long ago???).

That was the one thing that turned me off of the Roadster was the two slow colors it was offered in.

Hopefully when I am home in March next year I will be able to order (or outright purchase) the new R3T (or...gasp...possibly the Thunderbird) in the color I want. If the R3T's colors are not satisfactory I will probably go with the Thunderbird. The R3T will be hard to pass up though if they keep up offering the accessory laden model they do now for that price.

Not really, I am having a "little faith" that Triumph will get a little more imaginative in their color offerings that's all...if they don't then I'll start thinking about the Thunderbird 1700.

You have to remember I will probably have a Thoroughbred Motorsports Stallion (a 2300cc engine as it is) in the stable around June or so. It is up to Triumph to start coming out with some more "brighter" colors than they have. If they start throwing out the red/black combo again...or green/black, blue black combo versions then I will be happy. If they come out with the dark blue/blue I might go with it...but right now my preference is something with RED in it...so we'll see.

I've ridden the Thunderbird (the 1600 version) and was not put off by it at all, had a great sound and was fast...the 1700 should be even better...hopefully I can get it with ABS as well...so it's not like I'm leaving Triumph...I'm just keeping my options open.

I'm 6'8" and ride a Roadster. I feel more comfortable than on an older used R3 classic the dealer had. Even the Thunderbird was in the grey area between close enough and not far enough. I still look funny on it, but I've come to the realization that I'm just going to look funny on any bike. They just don't make them big enough to make me look normal.


I see the problem, may I suggest leg surgery, they do it in China to lengthen, so why not shorten(LOL)
Not convinced with the twin pipes, thought they might have had something thinner, my local dealer tells me that standard rocket will swap over, luckily i got my after market pipes and spagetti pipe off the my standard R3 before the insurance company got hold of the wreck, left it witht he standards on it

As long as your legs are, one would expect that you would be more comfortable with the prior models more forward floor boards. I have a 36" inseam and LOVE being able to move my feet around and more forward since installing the boards. They are so large, I can put my heals on the toe of the boards for a position that's similar to highway bars and pegs.

I think I'm going to look into the highway pegs that attach to the standard peg mounting bars. I don't like the look of crash bars at all. I'll risk the damage for the looks. I don't expect an operating bike if I lay it down anyways. I'm pretty confident I won't just drop it in a parking lot. That would be the only time it would be worth having the bars.

Other than that, I actually like the position of the Roadster pegs. I like them better than the older bike. It's a sportier position. This is my fist non-sport bike. When you are used to having your feet below you, I don't see a foot forward position being comfortable. But the highway pegs might be good to stretch legs on a longer trip. If I need to lift my but off the seat, I can do that now with no problem. Try repositioning yourself on the seat or lift up for a moment to get some air flow down there on forward controls.

before i placed my order a couple of weeks ago R3R Phantom black
A small hint about new colours was mooted
so dealer rang a bod at Triumph
Two new colours may be offered in October
BUT THEY ARE STILL NOT SURE WHAT THEY WILL BE !

I don't know what other colors they're offering, but the matte black is still available on the 11s. There's one at the local dealer. I sat on it. Frankly, I prefer the ergos of the standard Rocket, which is very similar to the Thunderbird.
