RIIIT Tranny problems

I change my levers to pazzo racing they allow more adjustment then the stock ones. But then I have a lock up clutch now and they do not have as much clutch head movement as the stock system.
is your arm down on the clutch cover floppy or is there good tension on ? You can accuate the stock clutch by hand there to feel the tension and when it contacts the lifter piece head do not rotate it more then 30 degrees once you feel the lifter piece contact. there is also a return spring that fits around the small end of the lifter shaft which IMO could be a higher tension one.

Good question about the lever at the engine. I haven't thought to check that. Guess I will do it before I leave in the morning. My shaft broke at about 5500 miles and I have about that much on the new one so I am going to check it and get the dealer to check it. I have ridden without a clutch before, but I get irritated when it is a new bike and I have to do it.

2nd gear

thanks for the comments, should pick up the bike saturday (weather permitting), I will try it again before leaving, I am not used to the more forward pegs! So maybe its me! wish they were back so my legs would be about straight! its what I am used to (prior rides: a pile of dirt bikes! street: 72 Kawasaki 500 triple 2 stroke, 82 Yamaha Maxim 1100, 85 Kawasaki Ninja 900, 94 Harley Lowrider 103 ci.blew up of course) for agressive riding I would rather have them there, then have a set of highway pegs out front for a change of position when highway cruising! any one using the raask adjustable kits? I thought the Rocket would run about the same as my V Max! but my little test ride did not show me that! dealer is installing Jardines for me, he said they have a program for the fuel injection that works with the pipes! you guys know what the horsepower and torque gains will be? looks to be a good weight loss over stock triples and cat box!! down the road when I can buy the 3 K&Ns, then he said I will need the tuneboy or power commander, you guys who have experience with this, is this right? I have to watch my finances (terrible divorce), so the 3 K&Ns and tuneboy probably wont happen till fall! was thinkin about the K&N in the stock air box! but some say waste of money! heard the remove the funnels under the seat! and dont remove them! will suck in hot engine air! I appreciate the comments/help!

My two cents , I had an 05 standard and it clunked into gear and you had to stomp on it every now and then but it did get better how ever all the gears were there . Now I have an 08 standard and it has 350 miles on it and it shifts excellent it snicks into ever gear no problem it is completely different than my 05 its like triumph heard about the problems and fixed them I could be wrong but my 08 shifts excellent if the bike your buying is new and you cant find second you should have them look at it something is wrong ! maybe I got a good on but I love the way it shifts the difference is night and day. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Borntoride- If your dealer is loading one of the Triumph tunes I wouldn't expect any power gain. Triumph fattens the a/f ratio not by adding more fuel but by restricting the air intake by closing the secondary throttle plates more than the standard tunes. And your dealer is correct, you'll need tuneboy or pcii for the triple K&Ns.

I have to say that there is an increasing number of members who have chosen to acquire another Rocket. Gone 35 grand on 2 06' standards with no clutch problems and I don't baby it but disregard the MSF recommendations and slip into neutral at lights with eyes on rear traffic. Will bring up the subject next tech session dinner at my dealer.

Baggage1, tell 'em I said hello. Last time I was home I was able to make the "beginning of the month" ride. I don't know what they'll do for July as the first Saturday is the 4th. Find out for me will ya? Ask Travis how much he'll charge to polish up those rims for me?

I had to have 'more than one' as well. I just wanted some variety so I got a couple other models and makes.

Talked with the service mgr. today. He verified that it was the lifter rod and Triumph approved the warranty work. He said that they are sending the parts "second day". So I should be back on the road by this weekend.
