I started to remove the pieces for painting and realized the rear wheel has to come off to remove the rear fender but for the life of me I cannot find the right tool for the left side of the spindle which is hollow and does not seem to take a universal wheel puller . the right side is a regular nut but the left
??? any body knows what tool to hold the spindle from turning while I unscrew the nut on the brake side!

i dont remember the size but its should be an allen wrench (hex wrench)

seems my universal wheel puller is one millimeter to big caliper any one knows the size of the allen key to hold the spindle??

Assumed it was the one in the tool kit .. not that I even know where my factory tool kit is nowadays.

If you don't have one, then the wrong end of a spark plug socket may fit in and then you put a hex wench in the spark plug end.

If you don't have that then a bolt with two nuts locked together on it will also work, if the bolt head is the same size as the hole in the axle.

You won't need an axle puller as it should slide out quite easily. If it doesn't then persuade the other end lightly with a soft mallet. I usually coat the axle with a light coat of grease before putting it back in.

Are you absolutely certain you are required to remove the rear wheel in order to remove the rear fender?

I did not mention that I will have the wheels powder coated anyway , but the wiring is what keeps the fender from sliding away easily and I cannot get at it easily so removing the wheel first was my intention

thanks budman 14 mm I can now go buy the hex wrench, TC my tool kit has disappeared long ago IDK67 your solution will come handy if I cannot find the 14mm wrench

just found the hex wrench from the original toolbox and it is too small

i wonder if at some point the shop who changed my rear tire last time F*** ed up the spindle.
