For me, it's not the cost so much as it is the time and effort to put a new tire on the rear. I wouldn't do a retread and risk a delamination while riding, besides what is the quality of the rubber used on the retread? Me thinks it's a very bad idea for a Rocket or any bike. The money you save on tires, will be spent on hospital bills.:(

At last People we might have a Real solution to the rear tyre problem, I have been in contact with L-Futon they are a retread company the Only retreads they do are for bikes, they have Only been in business for about a year. prices are Low he said about $65.00 for a Rocket rear. do not know to much about retreads waiting on some more info, does anyone have any insight about this

I know your not asking for my 2cents, but that really sound like a good " APRIL FOOLS " joke. Here in Canada it's not legal recaps on MC.

You see retread carcasses everywhere on the freeway from semis. Man, I dont know if id trust it. Not saying it wont work, but on a bike, a tire failure usually ends with the rider and passenger on the pavement......

Incredibly, I have seen a practically new Metz delaminate from the side. Ask Josey.

Along the same line, since I paid the sucker price of admission, I struck a piece of truck tire carcass once... it whacked my foot off the pedal  I thought I had lost the foot. Seen a truck tire just burst right next to me too. Met a dual amputee young man who claims to have had a sudden rear tire failure in a sport bike at high speed. Woke up without his legs.

The tire seems to be a critical weak point in the chain of MC safety. There's a parallel thread on braking. Certainly ABS is a great compensator for lack of skill, panic and poor road condition while braking. I wish my bikes had ABS.

Maaan these toys are fun but they are dangerous.
