Ramair filter arrived...

True - but drugs help. Thing is NUMBERS don't lie. When you have them all - you can decide which truth is yours. I think it's NO coincidence that plenum breathing is used on so many engines. Their design is (still?) beyond me - but I KNOW shape makes a huge difference in directing air flow. Shame the images from Speedy have gone.
It gets complicated designing a proper airbox [ Helmholtz resonator ] as the Rocket would require a large unit and then you want to make it pleasing cosmetically SO the free flowing aircleaners are the popular choice

Sounds like a lot of chest beating going on here for me i will just be happy with my stock standard bike , i would like the space under the seat though

ITS funny a lot of the guys wanted a 6th gear overdrive for high speed over 100mph cruising ????

I want a 6th gear. The slightly taller gearing from the higher profile Bridgestone is (just) one of the big pluses of that tyre. I like the low down torque and don't enjoy sustained high revs - and frankly don't see the need for a 2300cc engine to have it's neck wrung.

Stuff popular, Art - Easy is for others. If I'd wanted easy I'd have stuck with triple K&N's - (actually no I'd have stuck with the single one under the tank) rather than offer my assistance to Battersea when he had an original idea. R+D is what keeps me sane.

As for cosmetics - Aesthetics are very personal. I personally for example do not like how the 4040 or 1770's look. This does not mean I don't appreciate the benefits.

Personally (as an example) I like the look of Bob C's RAM induction system - but not at the expense of filtration. imo it's a crying shame it's not been capitalised on.

I know it's complicated & requires a huge amount of MIPS (Computer jargon: millions of instructions per second) and masses of data to calculate correctly. - but I also know they work.

I've a mate in Switzerland who works on airflow and ducting on F1 racing cars where cost is a minimal factor. But he has no interest in looking at R3's - I quote him "Chris, I have better things to do with my sparse free time - anyway that's what my wife says".

One could for example consider a scoop, where many have sump spoilers, feeding a decent chamber from below and behind - coming up under the left knee. This idea was proposed by an aeronautics engineer.

I'm also a big fan of the 80:20 rule of engineering. 80% of what's possible for 20% of the cost possible. So I could accept less than perfect dimensions if I got reasonable return in gain.

This said - personally I doubt I'd take the plenum route as I'm sure price/performance benefit (FOR ME) would be unjustifiable. Mainly I don't need more performance than I have. It does not mean however I'm adverse to furthering my knowledge.

YES like you say its a matter of personal taste we know our ram air induction works well and looks good BUT its not practical for street use without filtration and thats being worked on

YES the Rocket could easily pull a higher ratio 6th gear for cruising Like you say no point in cruising at high rpm when you have a 2300cc trq monster

Ok fitted the Ramair filters, love the sound, very easy to fit but I will be removing them as it seams to be running too lean and is very feathery at low rpm.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

I just love my under tank K&N on my Carpentered bike. It loses 11 hp and 12 lbs torque when compared to velocity stacks only on the dyno.
208 vs. 219 hp and 180 vs. 168 torque. I'll live with that for the filtration. The curves are so close at anything under 100 mph in any case.
Maybe the Ramairs would do a bit better than what I have and maybe not but cannot see changing.
