ramair cracked

A stock from the factory R3 does 118-122rwhp. Good pipes and any good air filter system will get you to 160hp on a bad day. GOOD pipes and any GOOD air filter system. The RAMAIR is as good as any filter which will fit under the bearclaw and better than the puny 2780(whatever number) K&Ns commonly used. On a motor combo of parts that regularly does 203-205 with large full size K&Ns and NO bearclaw, the RAMAIR only loses about 2-4hp. Use the search function to find the several times I have posted these results. As too the fast dyno............ well it would be fast at the start as well wouldn't it? So my base stock R3's would be showing more than 120hp? Man , if I had a dollar for every time I had that said I wouldn't have to come in to work tomorrow. If I go to a dyno shop, I can't say,"hey I want that one on the end it's faster!" they are a tool like a torque wrench, all made the same.Well, same brand that is. Have a nice day folks.

Hey Bruce how did the ramair work out? Have one @ home & was looking to do exactly the same thing the stock inlets look a much better option

One of the main reasons I went with Ramair and don't want the other options are that it requires no major surgery on the claw, it looks stock and discreet, and it retains the O2 sensor while still letting me get rid of all the ducts. On the R3 Touring, putting giant exposed filters on there would look like an eyesore in my view; on a Roadster or something that's already very performance-ey looking a bit less so.

The redesigned version that has the grooves and the thicker walls I got the other day looks vastly improved.

Nice job Bruce looks like the way to go. I didn't bother fitting mine at the time like the concept of it was only that inlet mount that let it down.

Sounds like bruce aussie has the design cure for the cracking boots! A better option might be for one of us to send Ramair an old intake duct and see if they can make the filter to match the backside of the duct so we could use the Triumph boots. Better yet would be for them to also add the two tangs on the top of the back side of the duct so it will also secure the filter as the OEM intake duct would. It would probably be cheaper for them to make and better for use as the install would be like original. I think I'll e-mail them to check if they are receptive to this idea.

Has this happened to anyone else
Trying to contact them
And no i didn't over tighten them barely nipped them up with screw driver

Same thing happended to mine contacted Ramair. They were very help full. Here is reply

Hi Wayne,

The plate you refer to, if I understand correctly, is just the base of the filter with no filter element moulded into it. This isn’t an extra part. Sorry that’s not particularly clear on the site, I’ll have that changed now!

Thanks for emailing over your photos, the new filters have had a slight adjustment to the necks in the base of the filter to try and help with the slipping off issue and we have made some changes to the chemical ratios for the polymer so that the necks do not split as easily. Unfortunately the splitting neck issue was partly down to the filter slipping off, the splitting of the necks are consistent with an over tightening of the clip provided, we have since been warning everyone with these filters that the clips do not need to be tightened until they will not go any further only a ¼ turn after you feel the clip pinch.. This being said, we have done everything we can with these to stop there being a chance of that happening. But in the interest of making sure you get the most out of your filter, I would advise that you keep an eye on it.

I have had your replacement filter sent out today, although no tracking information will be available as of yet as it has not reached the, you can track your item here:

May be the best Ramair filter ever produced. If Ramair is monitoring this feel free to use my idea.
How's your re-worked Ram Air holding up? I just finished doing the same thing to mine. I used 100% silicone, superior adhesion & flexibility, won't crack, shrink or peel and service temps are -60F to 400F. Let's ride!
