Smooth inner surface and rounded edges to minimize wear and tear on the rubber, spring-loaded so it can expand and contract a little with the temperature level, this all sounds like good stuff to a relative layman on hose clamping.
In my email reply from RAMAIR, they did state that they were taking steps with their tooling in an attempt to prevent failures, so hopefully we won't be seeing the same issues going forward.

Uh, the alternative being? "Yeah, we're retooling, and should have new stock in six months... shall we get back to you then?" I'd rather they send another unit for now if I needed one.

Sorry but i don't see getting a filter that is not fit for the job replaced with the same is a good alternative , it would take 2 to 3 weeks to get here and last maybe a month or two before it ****s its self again . I think a refund of total cost to me is what i would like but will i get it ? most likely not .

That's the worst I have seen @dave64 and I can understand your concerns of what has been sucked into the engine.
