I'm good with that...we get to sleep in an extra 2 hours.

IMPORTANT NEWS FLASH ... Pikes Peak will be closed on Sunday June 29th for the annual Pikes Peak Hill Climb Races. Apparently my Sister was wrong last night. I just called them to confirm Open/Closed status. The Ranger said they will be having qualifying races all week from 4 AM to 9 AM. The road will open to the public at 9 AM. There are no qualifying races on Saturday so they are open normal hours Saturday.

I'm going to leave Montrose sometime on Thursday June 26th so I can ride up PP on the morning of Friday June 27th. Any body want to join me ?

I just posted this #329, this morning.....

I just called the Rangers @ Pikes Peak to get some additional info...

The week before the HILLCLIMB (that is on Sunday June 29, 2014) they will be opening to the public with a 2 hour delay (normal opening 7:30 AM) to allow practice runs for racers.

The day before the race, will be normal hours (no practice runs).

The day of the race requires special tickets for spectator access (road not open to public that day for touring).

according to the ranger, the 28th will be normal hours...unless they changed from this morning??

Ogre your post was on a page I didn't read. Sorry I missed your post. I called them to ask what the open/close plan was for the races. The corrected info in my post matches the info you have in your post.

Hey Ogre, No unfortunately I cannot leave Idaho until after about 1 PM on Saturday 2-21. I am the Local Rat Pack Pres. (Pack Leader) and we have our monthly meeting on the morning of 2-21. I expect to arrive into Montrose sometime Monday 2-23. Hopefully late morning or early afternoon.

Sounds good Tripps. It would be nice if we could get a group together for that ride. I have been on top of PP 3 times in my car. Always wanted to do the motorcycle. PP is paved to the top now. My Sister lives almost right at the bottom in the Old Colorado City part of Colorado Springs. She is pretty close to the Garden of the Gods.
