R3R - stalling issue?

Interesting to hear about the popping issues - I have that too, but being new to Triumph I figured it was just one of those brand-specific things. I didn't think to mention about the 3rd/2nd issue, but now that I think about it, when I downshift at speed to engine brake I have noticed the oil pressure light pop on until being fully into 2nd a few times.

Going to have my service done tomorrow and will mention about both the new program and the TPS reset. I'll post back with an update once she is out and rolling again!

Well, just got back from the dealer and according to the tech (he actually seems to know his stuff) he said there was NOT a new flash for the late 2013s at present (the bike has the current flash). They did go ahead and reset the ECU (and I believe the primary TPS), but it was not hot enough here today to give the fix a real test.

If anyone else finds out about a new flash (for the late run 2013 - with factory stripes), do please post about it!

Guess what? My new '13 rocket has stalled om me twice now. After reading this thread though, I think I know what needs to be done. It's always on decel and always starts right back up. It is pretty warm here..90 degrees, so if it's heat related I can see why.

ever push one of these R3R's?

Well, even with the stalling issue, the missus and I took a ride tonight. On our way home I felt pretty confident the bike wasn't going to stall...wrong. It stalled just shy of 2 miles from home. No problem, I'll just fire it back up. Nope. Wouldn't start. Tried 6 times. Has anyone here had to walk this bike a mile and a half? Uphill? We did. (Major embarrassing) Until 3 bikers came along and helped us out. (Heaven sent) It is a heavy sum *****. Two of the fellas helped me with the bike while the gal gave my wife a ride home.

We decided to try firing it up again. So, they got me going pretty quick and I pulled in the clutch, pressed the starter and it fired up. What the hell? I kept getting the engine icon and oil light when I turned the key. I love this bike, but I'm getting frustrated now. Going to have the dealership come to my house and trailer it back to the shop on Monday.

Turned out we knew the good folks who helped us. Beer for everyone when we got 'er home. And they all rode Harleys! Those Harley folk are good people. They loved my Rocket, thought it was a beautiful machine.

Anyway, thanks for reading this minor rant.

**** that sucks to hear

I'm real interested in hearing how it turns out, since I'm due to pick my new one up next week. I sent my dealer a link to this thread earlier today before your latest post, I'll let you know if I get any feedback...

Thanks, Jim. I hope your new R3 is trouble free. I'll be posting all and any info regarding what the issue is and what the techs do to fix it.

I'm curious too. I really hate seeing new R3 pilots having problems right off the lot :(

Hopefully no news is good news and they've been out riding so much they haven't had time to post that the problem is fixed.

I don't remember?

I had the same problem with my Touring when it was new, and only after running it hard on hot days, to be honest I don't really remember what the resolution was, I think it stopped on its own.....

See what happens on the left coast, your brains are fried from all of that legal pot you smoke. (I'm just jealous)
