Welcome dawg68 from another Aussie I'm one of those people that did not test ride the rocket I just saw two together ride past me , I caught up saw the word triumph on the tank and went and bought it .never regretted it

I bought my '05 without a test drive. I looked and watched the Rocket since the first spy photos and finally I sold my Road Glide, found a good deal on a demo model in Dallas with 123 miles on it. My wife took me to Dallas to pick it up, then I rode it to Shreveport, LA then back here to San Antonio.. :) That was my test drive.. lol 75K miles later and there's still nothing like it... :) It's been like a marriage.. sometimes I get a pissed at it, but the good times far out weigh the bad and over all we're still together!.. :)

LOL....Outstanding advice and thanks

I have started to contact dealerships as far as a days flight away to try to find one to have a go on, all that said I can agree with those who have stated that they saw, they bought and then they rode....and they are very happy. Yes I have to agree 12 months wait is a long time but really not all that long, I'm 45, patience is something I've learned along the way. Seeing so many happy people about their purchase, thats a selling feature all on its own.
Ive been reading through the forum for quite some time and it seems to me that the Triumph bikes have become pretty reliable. Any brand can have its issues but it seems that the R3 is doing quite well in that respect, couple that with a solid dealer network across North America, I think my decision is fairly simple.:D

I've said it before, so I won't go into details. I do not like the riding position of the Roadster. I love the riding position of the Standard but of course it was replaced by the Roadster.

Would the Classic be an option for those like me who want the power and comfort both? Are they still in production?

I've went down the same road. I and the dealer couldn't find a 2010 Roadster anywhere when I made up my mind to get one. At the time I never have rode a Roadster or anything. I just knew it was the bike I wanted. After 4 months of searching and giving up the dealer said they found one and had it shipped in. I had already placed a deposit on a which ever came first.... the 2010 model or wait until the 2011 came out.

Hello everyone, I have a little dilemma I'm hoping for a little insight. I have been reading reviews, watching you tube videos and talking to as many people I can find to seek their opinions on the R3 roadster. I went down to our local Triumph dealership today to pull the trigger on ordering an R3 but I have never test drove the bike. I'm in the military and over the last couple of years when they had demo nights I was always away, go figure, just my luck. The only bike I was able to even sit on was the R3 touring, 2012, not quite the same as the roadster. Anyway once I got in the saddle, I felt right at home.
I have rode the M109R, Yamaha Raider, Victory Hammer and the HD VRod, all nice bikes but I keep coming back to the R3. I've even considered the 2013 Triumph Thunderbird Storm, beautiful bike, when I was in the showroom sitting in the saddle I found myself peeking over my shoulder to look at the R3, I only wish they had the roadster on the floor, if they did I probably would have signed the papers and this post would probably read quit a bit different. Unfortunately all the 2013 bikes have been ordered and sold so once again I won't get a chance to test drive. Not having much luck and all that said I love this bike.
The dealer did give me the option to order a 2014 now so that I could have it for next spring. This would allow me to pay on the bike for a little over a year interest free and take advantage of any incentives that pop up. It is hard to sign the papers when I have not had the pleasure of a test drive or even see the roadster in person. I'm 95% sold on this bike, and was wondering if anyone else purchased their R3 without a test drive and if so, are you happy with your decision. Thanks
Kevin

I was going to buy a new 2013 Roadster. I made my mind up seven months before I intended to make purchase. It was a long seven months. I did all the research and was sure I was going to buy it with or without test ride. I waited the seven months and the time had arrived to buy the Roadster. I didn't buy it. I bought a Standard Special Edition instead. A used bike. This bike had caught my eye. It had about $4000 worth of accessories. I just liked the way it looked. When I bought my Rocket, it was like riding my first bike all over again. It brought that kind of excitement. It wasn't about saving money, which I did, it was about the uniqueness of this particular bike. I know there are others like it, but not many.
