Quick Shifter Installed R3 GT

Information? Look at P.96 of the Owners' Handbook. And tell the dealer to do the same.

It's quite clear.

If that's too complicated for him, tell him to read the Workshop Manual. PPs 1652..on...

He's full of it...............

The R3 manual says that upshifts won’t work at very low engine speeds (how low?) and that the throttle must be held steady during a shift. Same with BMW although the throttle must be closed during a downshift.

Can you let me know WHERE it says that?? Mine works fine at low rpm.....

Mine works butter smooth at like 2000 rpm. I don't know how low an engine speed you have to go for it to not work, but it works low enough for my careful lazy riding out of the neighborhood.

“Mine works butter smooth at like 2000 rpm.”

Probably because you have massive torque at 2000 rpm. You don’t even need to use first gear, at least on the older Rockets.

Interesting. HOW low rpm? (As you say.)

Must admit I don't ride much under 1800-2000 rpm in traffic...gets "snatchy"under that. (Not really a question of torque.)

But still works OK at that speed.

And why would you want to upshift at those RPMs anyway? It won't run smoothly in traffic at maybe 1400-1500 revs.

So in practice, that qualification is maybe pretty much irrevelant????

Under normal operating rpm the assist will work. Some throttle needs to be applied as it will not upshift with the throttle closed. It’s not “Rocket Science”.

I guess it may be my normal riding style coincidentally aligning to the shift requirements, as I never have any issues with it

Have you noticed any additional fuel consumption with the quick shift ?

And by the way, do you confirm that you can disconnect it ? Looks like it is possible when I look at the manual page 47 (though it seems secondary if one can still use the clutch (for every gear) while the quick shift is connected).
