I purchased an extended tire warranty with my 2011 Rocket 3 Touring.

I've got it at a friend of mine who has a shop in his garage and is doing a few things to my big girl. He's installing the Hagon Nitros, will adjust my handlebar and lube the shaft drive.

The bike has under 3k miles on it and he calls me to tell me that the tire has severe cupping. It's odd to me because of the low mileage and I check the pressure monthly (I take the bike out once or twice a week). I ask him about it and he says it could be the load and it happens to Honda Gold Wings. Granted my wife and I are fat, but my old Yamaha VStar 1300 (about 100lbs less) had over 8k on the tires with some life left.

Could this be a warranty issue?

I'll be calling my dealer tomorrow, but wanted to get opinions here first.

is it the front or rear tire the only cupping i have had on a rocket was the front tire never the rear and i believe that it was due to under inflation would check it once a week and if it was a 1lb low would air it back up by doing that i had no more cupping of the tire and bout the last 35000 miles i was on a c/t

dont know what to say then i have never had a rear tire cup
u might have got a bad tire i did when they changed to meitz the first replacement was bad would cause the bike to wobble but that was also the front tire on that to
just keep us inform

Tires

It might have something to do with the torque going to the rear wheel, as well as the weight.
The Metz that came with my new 2010 R3T only lasted 5000 miles.
I have a solution but if I say anything I will get bombarded with differing opinions.
So I am not going to say anything. Ha

Never had a cupping issue.......9000 miles on the bike with about 6500 on the metz.
Call dealer and have them replace it...especially if you have a warranty

mutt

Are you sure it isn't the front? Had 3 Metz on front cup within 2500-3000 miles, switched to Avon Cobras, almost 6000 miles, no sign of cupping whatsoever. Never heard of a rear cupping.

In my experience (all bad) vehicle manufacturers won't warranty tires, they tell you to contact tire manufacturer.

Mac, do I'm not darksiding. For some reason I like leaning on this bike and it looks scary with a car tire.

What I think happened is 90% of the time we are 2up and to shorten the beast a bit, I lowered the preload. I have it at 2 when it should be at 4 (according to the manual). So while the low preload makes the ground easier to reach, it also puts more weight on the rear, so perhaps that is what is causing my rear tire to cup.

hopefully my new Hagons will fix all that!

Will keep you all posted.

I have a 13 R3T only got 5300 out of it but no cupping .went to Commander 2's f& r hàve over 13000 miles so far looks at least ànother 5000 left. Combo weight over 400 lbs ànd always extra weight in bags.
