Pipes and tunes? Help

If you are going to use tuneboy don't worry about changing the Triumph tune in the ECU because with Tuneboy you will be loading a new tune in the ECU anyway.

Sorry to keep beating this to death but I need to clarify. I can go to my dealer and install the Triumph TOR pipes, do the air filter under the seat mod and have my dealer install the Triumph tune for this. Then I can install the tuneboy with a tune loaded in it for the Triumph pipes and it will correct the speedo and fix the secondaries and the 7% power loss? Then I could run it on a dyno and make sure the af ratio's are on the money or close and that's it? Then my bike would run as it should?

Yes, all true. But you MUST get the Triumph cat bypass pipe. There's not much point in doing any of this unless you get rid of the catalytic converter.

You dont have to go all out at once. In your original post you said you just wanted the Jardines for the sound. There is no reason why you cannot just put the Jards on, buy a PCIII, download the Jardines map available free from the PCIII website, and off you go. Your triumph base tune will be fine, no need for dealer to do anything.

Once you have riden for a while you may get some decel popping but it is a 5 minute fix in the PCIII map and you will find the way to do this in other threads here - easy adjustment.

Later if you are not happy enough you can go get it dyno tuned, then even add aTuneboy on top if you wish to access the secondary options, but it will run great just with the Jards & PCIII and you should be out to approx.142hp.

OK, I read all the posts I could find about pipes and even though it sounds like the Jardines are the sound I am looking for it seems that there quality isn't very good? This forum and the Rat forum gives me this conclusion. The Triumph pipes I am sure are a good pipe as the bike is amazing! I know I won't get all the power back because of altitude I ran into this with my new Corvette but after Long tube headers, throttle body spacer, Ram air intake and a dyno tune I am putting 400hp to the ground. I ran into the same problem with my Kawasaki Brute Force 750 that was "detuned" from the factory. After many mods and alterations to the computer timing etc. It runs like a different machine! I have been on a lot of fast bikes and the power doesn't intimidate me. I just want to get the most power out of the bike within reasonable cost. I didn't buy it to race, but if a v-rod or custom hardley or another bike pulls up I want my bike to be tuned and running it's best. I want it to be to it's full potential with pipes and computer tune. Input on pipes and tuneboy has led me to the decision at this time that I will probably go with the cat bypass, TOR pipes and a tuneboy. Hope I am happy with my decision.

Also would it hurt anything to have the dealer install the new tune for the pipes and then install tuneboy later? Does Tuneboy overwrite the Triumph tune? Thanks guys I appreciate your input......Craig

You will be. I dynoed at 140 hp/150 ftl lbs in Reno at 4500 ft.

Not at all.

The Tuneboy allows you to replace the tune that is in the ECU. You will want to download the 20050_2 tune for the TORs/cat bypass. You could re-load the stock Triumph tune for that exhaust too.
