183.48mph, and it's getting faster...

El Mirage SCTA event on Nov 12th, 2023: 183.48mph. About 3lbs of boost, fuel mixture waaaaaay too fat, and not quite full throttle only at the last few seconds of the run. She's only getting faster from here. :)
That's pretty fantastic. Congrats. What tires and what sizes did you use ?

Glad you came through it. Will be waiting impatiently to hear about the stability issues 😧. Just got quizzie on the stomach this morning thinking about how crazy that must have been. Way to drive that thang to a stop! ✋

Honestly, it was a Jesus Take The Wheel situation.... it was complete out of my control. I was just waiting for it to slow down enough that I could get clear of it when it highsided. It gathered itself up around 30-40 mph, and I have no idea how. The problem shows up around 150-160 mph.... this time it just got bad enough that I couldnt ride through it.

Glad you were able to keep it upright, can't help but think that if you still have that cooler on the front end it would cause turbulence. Any possibility of wind tunnel testing and blending the shape with the thought of rider safety. I'm sure there are many questions going through your thought process. Hundreds of questions have to be going through your head.

My brain tells me no, but I'm not particularly confident in my brain at this point. I remember having a bit of the same issue before I put the tank on the front, so I'm leaning toward something else. I'm going to start with re-checking all my bearings/pivots for tightness, and then the alignment of the wheels. I'm most likely going to swallow my pride at some point and find a chassis shop that can do some laser alignment/measuring of what I have and start from there. I should have more trail than stock with the reduced offset of the Busa triple trees... math says trail should be 4.87", but measuring would be a better idea than mathing at this point.

Yea, the amount of questions are pretty high, and I need a bit of time to recover the will to ride the thing again.... it was not a good time. I'll get there. One thing at a time.

Just had some Dunlop Q tires on it... 17" rims. It went 209.03 in May, but I have a pretty serious stability issue I have to figure out over 160mph.... it tried to kill me proper at the Bonneville motorcycle speed trials last week. More to follow on that.
How did you get a 17" for the rear wheel ? Glad you are safe.

I've ridden two Rocket 3s at Bonneville over 150 mph and the older 2013 was very sketchy to disastrous and the new 2021 was rock solid. If the 2021 bike would have been capable of more speed I would have felt confident on it. I'm glad it didn't bite you and we are pulling for you to get straightened out.

I'd love to ride a new model Rocket 3 chassis with 250 to 300 horsepower with a bit of streamlining.
