Pic of Triple K&N's Under Bearclaw

Really nice idea Ponters and it looks awsome - have to say young Mitch they seem pretty "uniform" to me! You're a fussy bugger.

I'm also pretty happy with my edgeless cut. If you run your finger along the edge you can tell it's been cut but it looks absolutely fine to me.......without my glasses on.

here is a pic of my modded bear claw
I thought of doing something simalar but worried it may start getting a harmonic vibration at speed, does it cause any unusal noises when you get hauling
cool idea ponters
would have looked a little better if all three wher uniform though
Mate! they are pretty neat the slight variation I think you will find already exsists in the humps
I would doesnt matter how neat the cut is you can still see that they are done by hand without the trim . havent seen one yet that u cant . the trim finishes it off nice
you obiviously have not seen one finnished with a Very fine File, you can not cut ya finger on mine, but in saying that a chrome edge would look nice as long as you can get it to follow the curve properly

I did notice when I saw yours but did not want to insult an otherwise fine job, next time I'm up I'll bring my Fine file

Haha not insulting the job mate i think he did a great and original job
being a fabricator i do notice things though and yes the three bumps on a stock bearclaw are different i agree.
Now go back take a look at the pic and tell me that the third claw closest to the seat of the bike doesnt lose its line halfway down. the first two have a really nice round line from top to bottom the third starts off on the curve then has about a 4cm flat spot.
looks good but i would make that uniform to the other two but thats just me.
Richard i think you did a great job with cutting yours mate but yes u can still see minor cornering and flat spots in places not insulting anybody they look fantastic just saying i have never seen one including mine that u cant tell has been cut trust me its noticable thats why i used the trim. Some dont like the trim look and thats fine but u want to get the line **** straight and following the natural lines of the claw almost laser perfect if you dont want anyone to notice. Just my opinion

And yes some of the cuts are very neat "Ishmals is very neat" but u can still see they have been cut they dont have to be sharp to notice slight cornering high spots or line or edge variations.

Not putting anybodys work down i think they all look fantastic mine is no better than anybody elses i was just stating honosty and what i see
I really prefure a trim of some kind because the cutt stands out like dogs balls

You have a way with words Mitch

You're going to have fun with yours Curt. Grommets maybe........... I am kidding.
By the way, why don't you post a pic of yours in this thread as it now has quite a collection of other cuts.

I am still smoothing out all the edges, even with a fine sanding wheel on the dremel you can tell the holes were not punched or laser cut. I tried a small fine file but it the noise made my teeth hurt...

try a chainsaw sharpening file but in stead of using strokes run the file along at 90 degree's to the edge

What do ya reckin Richard do you think I got him backpedaling Good or What
