Agree wholeheartedly regarding the Commander. Put a new one on to start my crisscross US trip last summer. It was into wear bare at 4100 miles.
On a front tire, that really sux!

As you know, I could have gotten 10K miles out of mine had I not replaced it prematurely in order to mount a mattced pair of Ex. Maxes (130 in front). Trust me, guys, when I say that I am a very aggressive rider, so it just doesn't compute that I would get orders of magnitude better mileage on a tire that Michelin themselves tout as a high mileage tire, unless the ones you had were defective in some way. Paul Bryant over in NZ had the same experience as you both, BTW.

once you put just about anything else out there on the front of your bike other than a Metz, you will know why most of us would never use them again the rear is a bit of personal choice but if you were wanting to stay with a bike tyre The Brigdestone Excedra Max is the the ducks guts miles better than the Metz

To me Metzeler looks to be the ONLY tire manufacture making a tire that fits both the front and rear of the Rocket.
The Dunlop D251 is far superior tire IMHO; but, they make OEM sizes only for the Rocket Touring and they do not make 140/80X17 for my front.
I'm thinking my R3R may need a set of 17 inch wheels in order to run the best tires.
