But what do you guys do if it takes a couple of seasons to get 10K on the old girl? I know that letting oil set in the crankcase over a winter is not the best to start a new season with, unless synthic has properties which allow that. I've gone with some of the other captains and change mine each spring after the initial warm-up (I never get 10K in a season).
I haven't been able to find it on the shelf lately but during this past season, I found the Mobil 1 4T racing oil on the shelf at Walmart. I'd pick up a quart every now & then for $8.50 per quart but they quit shelving it. I have enough for the up-coming season & will need to find another source. The guys at the local Oreilly's carry Mobil oils & said they would try to find some if I'd bring in an empty container so they would know exactly what it was I needed. $51 (plus tax) is not that bad I guess for 6 qts. Knock on wood, my old gal has never had to go the the "vet" for a checkup or service & I hope it continues for another handful of years. I'm not certain about the knock with the timing chain & gear. It comes & goes but never seems to be severe.
See ya.
