I don't know what year model yours is, if it's not new & you've had the valves checked/adjusted - Go back to them, they did a bad job installing the gasket. make em make good on it ;)

2014 Triumph Rocket III Roadster with 9 thousand miles on it. Valves haven't been checked yet. It came from Triumph that way.

Call the dealer and book it in and it should be covered under warranty even if it is only recently out of warranty it is a known issue and should be covered - ask the dealer to pick it up, my dealer picked mine up for a recall and they are 100klms away

Sorry for the trouble. It's just a poorly seated valve cover gasket and it actually did pretty good to make it 9000 miles. If it's under warranty I'm sure they'll fix it and if not you could either replace it your self, or I have seen similar situations where you could just clean it up good with some spray carb cleaner, dry it, and wipe a small bead of black silicone in there and it would hold you until the 20k valve adjustment/check where you could replace the gasket. Actually I'm pretty certain that's what I would do regardless, just to avoid the headaches and possible other problems that could arise from taking the valve cover off. I don't think it's pressurized there at all except for crank case pressure. Anyway, good luck!

That should be given priority by the dealer you bought it from. Call Triumph direct and get them to yank the dealer's chain. If that doesn't work you can do a temp fix pretty easily. In any case, it's not going to damage anything if you ride it for short trips - just make a mess. Check oil level every day and clean off the outside. Of course it's embarrassing though.....

Was on my way home from a ride yesterday and could smell oil burning. This is what I found. Closest Triumph dealer is about 130 miles away and doesn't have a service opening until June 28th. So ironically enough I'll be riding the non oil leaking Harley in the meantime. Bike is a 2014 Roadster with about 9k miles on it.

That ironic. I had my '14 Roadster in at 9k miles for a busted valve cover gasket (what you've got), but mine broke in the more common location on the exhaust side right behind cylinder 1. And not even 5k miles later the Rocket is currently back at the dealer for a broken valve cover gasket in the exact same spot.

@jpool had the same issue but wasn't under warranty, so he dug into it himself and found engine block power coating on the machined gasket surface which was causing the gasket to never seat properly.

I've also heard stories of the valve cover either not being machined completely flat or warping during use so it's no longer flat. It's also possible although less likely that the head wasn't machined flat or has warped.

My dealer is checking into all these issues this week and next, and will be working with Triumph to resolve the problem. They say regularly see valve cover gasket leaks in many Triumphs and had no problem taking it in to perform warranty work. Take yours to your nearest Triumph dealer right away.

No way is that a head gasket. It's the rocker cover gasket and can be a common thing although I have never had one fail I think @Wrecka has had it happen twice.
Yep spot on mate, Cam cover gasket ,easily fixed if handy with the tools and willing to have a crack at it , or even better if your bike is still under warranty , only happened once so far @Mittzy , getting it back on and sealing right untill i was given heads up how to do it right on here.

It's happened twice to Hunty...He wasn't happy the second time...I rode it split for about a month and it used *** all oil...still spanked 2 v-rods on a poker run as well (just didn't park near them at the pub )
