Did anybody check the final drive oil? Just a thought. I'd guess tires "singin'". If it were a bearing, you'd think it would be howling(at all angles) by now. Doubtful it's an engine issue.

Thanks for all of the comments,

going to let the dealer listen to it, going to run more tests myself too, lift her up and spin the wheels as suggested. See if there is any play side to side, get out my reading glasses and look at the tires more closely;) Ride on the same roads with and without the windshield and lowers. Going to put my hand on the windshield to see if I can feel it hum, the lowers really have some flexibility to them, I'll tape them to the shield for a test. I do believe I can here the hum with no shield or lowers, but it is much much less. Not sure if the shield is applifying the sound or reflecting the sound or making the sound. Since I have a little hum without the shield it's hard to say. Might be two things, something in the bike and something in the windshield and lowers, will let you all know what I find

Thanks Again,,

After it was about half worn, my original rear Metzeler ME880 started to howl when leaned over. The howling got louder the more the tire wore. It stopped when I fitted the Exedra Max rear.

As a side note, the Exedra produces a noiseless thrumming vibration running straight up, but only in 4th gear. Like someone thrumming his fingers on the table. I am not concerned, because exactly the same thing happened after fitting a rear Avon Azaro to a BMW R1100RS. That bike would "thrum" in 2nd and 4th gears, not in the other gears. Nothing wrong with the bike, just some kind of harmonic sympathy due to the tread pattern.

I've been on Avon Cobra tires for over 30,000 miles. I lean over a lot and as far as the tire will let me. Never heard a howl leaned over or straight up.

My bet is tire noise. When I first bought my Rocket, I flew down to Texas to ride it home. Right away noticed the same noise your talking about. Had all kinds of horrible scenarios playing in my head on the way back to Michigan. Turned out to be nothing but crappy Metzler tires.
