Pretty much 100% not the trans. I'd be looking at wheel bearings, spacers, abnormal tire wear. If it's none of those hand the keys to another Captain and let him ride it to see if it's a noise no one else really notices but is in fact normal.

I've checked the tires thinking that too, but they look good. I've taken off the windshield and the sound becomes minimal but still there. I think the sound harmonizes through the shield into a louder sound. A little annoying, but it is definitely there, something in the engine rubs while leaned over, happens in several gears at various speeds, from 40 to 80 mph. The only thing I have left on the bike is the mounting hardware for the shield and lowers, all seem firmly placed. One thing I have noticed too, is that when the windshield is mounted(included lowers) the vibration in the handle bars and foot pegs in more noticeable. This might be the engine struggling against the shield. Although, in 3rd gear running 4000 rpm, it's quite vibrating, should be making enough power I would think. I think this comes from the clutch area, as I've pulled the clutch in a bit, based on others comments, and it did reduce the vibs noticeably.
I've searched the forum and the only other item I saw was the torsional damper bearing, what is this?
Do you know if you hear the sound when your radiator fan is running?
Might be the fan making a noise, or more correctly, air noise through the fan.
I can sometimes hear the fan kick on, and I swear at times I hear a low howling noise when the fan is running.

My avons , front and rear, depending on the pavement make all kinds of noise. I checked the Pressure, all good... I just find them to be noisy, particularly the front.
