Grand Tourer would possibly eat sales from the Trophy 1300, as it would be a better bike at touring than the Trophy if done properly, so I would bank on them not going that route.

Rocket 3 - Canceled by 2018 is where the smart money bets. They will have a hell of a time meeting upcoming emissions deadlines, and Triumph have already said "Complete model range refresh by 2018" at the end of 2015, so expect a "final edition" of some sorts with a few hundred dollars in visual mods added, possibly a unique color only available on the final edition, and limited quantities upcharged by 2-3 thousand.

BMW seems to be OK with having a sport tour and a land yacht pair (RT and the GTL). Pretty successful.

Having bought a Trophy last night, I can see where some sales would go either way. Given that development costs of a GT would be too severe, imho, it would make sense to offer both bikes in a touring class.

Sadly, however, I believe that your last statement is more likely than anything thus making the GT a moot point.

If the Rocket is going to gain sales and remain in production it needs to appeal to a broader base. I think this means the Touring needs to be dressed up to better compete with the touring models from HD/Victory/Indian. Weather that a fuily dressed model or lots of accessories I'm not sure but if they haven't done it in 8 years doubt they will.

That's kind of a Buzz Kill!! Oh well, I'll be really old by then and will no longer be able to dog paddle the beast anyway. How about a reverse??

Bigger engine? Why?
Traction control, ride by wire throttle and riding modes be my guess. Anyone who has ridden a Tiger 800 in Sport mode would be keen on the idea for the Rocket.
Styling wouldn't be anything like those mock ups. That Sport Touring isn't just sh1t, it would put the Rocket into the stupid class along with Victory Vision and FB6. Anyway, I'd like to see a more contemporary street fighter to complete the move away from being a cruiser rather than some bolt ons; perhaps something along Diavel lines or even VMax.
But 2300cc will be the engine size.

Sure with ya on this, M8!!!

One of the selling points for me was that the bike did not have a bunch of gadgets and toys to play with or brag about. It did come with one hell of a motor. Traction control, ride by wire, and riding modes, next thing would be to have somebody else ride it while you watch. No thank you. Yes a 2500 would be nice. More engine more power. Just looking at a Rocket pretty much says it all. one big bike, one big motor. That is about all you get. For some of us that is all we need. The Rocket X we bought back in late Sept. has 10,562 miles on it to date. Just flat out love the bike the way it is.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Last thing I want to see is Triumph put traction control nannies on the Rocket. The Rocket's charm is it is pure, basic, medieval simplicity in its design. If I want another slide-rule techno racer the market is replete with them. Lets keep the Rocket's answer to "Size Matters" as simple as those two words.

The Rocket fits in the market and has a certain appeal to not all but a certain type of rider that wants a big comfy bike with a massive powerplant without all the bells and whistles and gagetry of the geezer glides and Gold wings and has the potential to be a super bike beater when retuned and or modified to the desired performance level without giving up comfort ,gas mileage, or reliability

Anyone who thinks traction control is a nanny add-on doesn't understand what it really is. It's hardly gadgetry; it's just a smarter use of the ABS system - i.e. wheel turning at a different rate to road speed. On the Tigers there are full on, full off and off road settings. For the Rocket it could be set as, let's call it, launch assist. Full wick throttle with no wheel spin and max acceleration regardless of road conditions surely isn't a bad thing. It's inevitable so embrace it, I say.
If you think it makes you less of a man then you probably also think wearing a little engineers cap instead of a helmet is clever too.
Besides, you can always turn it off.
