Yeah I must aproducedd. d the whole "world's largest production motorcycle engine" had me scratching my head for a bit especially with bikes like the Boss Hoss and Barbarian motorcycles on the market which have V8 (5.7 litre for the Babarian) engines in them. Then it dawned on me that is all in the wording, the R3 has the largest production MOTORCYCLE engine in the world, the others are CAR engines that have been installed in bikes, the R3 engine was designed for and solely used by a motorcycle.

'Production' is about homologation and numbers of units produced. SS make a 2500 cc V twin that they sell plenty of but not in a completed motorcycle so they don't count as production engines. Throw in Boss Boss et al and the 'worlds largest blah blah blah' is a pretty hollow claim...but who cares really, I didn't buy mine for bench racing - I bought mine because it pulled my arms out of their sockets

YES DAVE has one BIG ASS cruiser there you cant say anything but WOW when you see one of those beasts . Its amazing that they offer them for sale you would think that they wouldnt allow such a monster to be driven on public roads LOL and Im surprised the insurance companies provide coverage for the beasts

The insurance agent asked me how many cc the bike was and I told them 5600 cc but they thought I was talking about the mileage. A guy in a gas station asked me if it was legal on public roads and I told him "NO, I took dirt trails all the way here."

I agree that the setup has something to do with mileage. My stock motor never got over 32 mpg. After the Carpenter package I get from 35 to 37.5 on the highway depending on speed. 60-70 gets about 1 or 1.5 mpg better than 70-80. No surprise there. What did surprise me was that two tanks in a row on the interstate at 85-90 mph was my best mileage of 37.5 mpg.
The only reason I can see is that the rpms put me where the torque is higher.

I missed something here. Every bike that I have owned that performance mods were made to ended up with gas mileage going down not up. The Harley being the worse out of the lot. I must be doing something wrong.

I noticed when 1st road testing the modded Rockets that they where using less fuel when cruising we wanted to double the HP and get good mileage and it worked out that I was getting better mileage than the stock Rockets I was riding with .

Adding cc's might be unnecessary but adding a cylinder would be utterly pointless and a huge backwards step regardless of engine size.

It seems that everyonewho has gone with the Carpenter package gets better mileage at cruising speeds. I guess it's because of more efficient breathing, and the motor doesn't have to work as hard. But if you want to get throttle happy, the mileage can drop quickly.

YES I know you can suck up some fuel if your out there beating up on the SPORTBIKES they always want to race on the HIGHWAY on long straights

It's the higher compression that makes the Caroenters more efficient.

Well, it's higher compression, combined with better torque scavenging exhaust, combined with a better flowing head, combined with a cam that breathes better with more lift and duration, combined with a better tune that throws emissions out for more power, meaning less throttle for a given tq ouput, meaning less fuel used for a given rpm/speed.

My 99 turbo Neon got over 50mpg cruising at 70mph, made 400 hp, pushed 25 psi and had a monstrous cam, 9.8:1 pistons, was over bored, had a highly ported and polished head, and 1000cc injectors. This was with 3.94 gearing, so, the shortest gears offered for the car. Probably could have gotten over 60 with the long gear tranny. When emissions are ignored power and economy gains can be rediculous.
