Good one mate , maybe wait and have a look at the custom exhaust system Ponters is having made for his Roadster. Know you're a fan of well travelled goodies. You could have pipes all the way from Australia... how many klms would that be when they got you :D ha ha.

Mully:
Thanks for the tip on the gas spill. We are sufficiently obsessive about how the bike looks that we would likely go into hysterics with such an incident if we thought the gas would hurt.

TC: Good suggestion on the pipes. We will likely be a while getting over the financial shock of the bike, so we have time to wait and see on pipes. Funny thing, these pipes sounded noticably better than the stock ones on the '08. With the improved sound, perhaps the look (which we now consider perfectly ghastly) may grow on us.

The bike is totally stock and needs a number of other little after market bits (crash bars, summer screen and the like). It's only money...

Hope to have the bike Sat and photos will follow shortly thereafter. Thanks to all for the good wishes.

We trudge on.

Glad you've found a replacement you're happy with. The Staintune Roadster pipes look pretty good I reckon. Plenty of options - and plenty of time.

You're from Texas ... don't you all have like an oil-well in your back yard :D just sell some more of your West Texas Crude mate.

Congrats neighbor! Mine is also a matte black roadster. The riding position is the only thing I'm still adjusting to at the moment. Switching between the T-Bird and the Roadster takes a bit of getting used to as their riding position is vastly different. As far as upgrades, the first I did was changing the ugly round mirrors to some teardrops. Much better visualization and better aesthetically as well. Color matching fly screen just added too. Next are the crash bars with pegs for a better cruising position.

Congrats once again! I'll be looking for ya on the road. stay safe!

All:
Just got the flat black Roadster in the garage. Pix will follow asap.

Can't ride just now. Too hot (102F) plus still recovering from the little "mishap" in June. Still pondering this flat black paint and how to keep it looking right.

The pipes are still quite ugly, but they sound markedly better than than the stockers on the '08. We remarked to the dealer that we think the Roadster pipes are the ugliest in all of cruiserdom. He strongly disagreed, reminding us of the hot water heater that Yamaha stuck on the starboard side of their otherwise very handsome Road Star Warrior. Upon review and reflection, we must frankly agree that our dealer is right. The pipes on the Roadster are the second ugliest pipes in all of cruiserdom. The Road Star Warrior pipes must rightfully claim the title of ugliest. Fair is fair, afterall.

We trudge on.
