Wait...McDonalds and the other hamburger joints have robots coming to cook and kiosks in the front to order from. The whole thing is gonna completely backfire on these stupid "politicians".

Except that has nothing to do with a minimum wage people can actually survive on, and the politics and the politicians aren't the problem.

In this case, those few politicians who want a higher minimum wage are literally trying to help the poorest people in society get a wage that pays for food, clothing and shelter. $15 isn't enough to get them much more than that, not even health care or expensive schools. And last I checked, the politicians were supposed to work for the people.

Automation will replace the burger flippers anyway, it's a mindless simple job a robot can literally do. Instead of paying someone $7 per hour, they'll put in automated ordering kiosks. In fact, if people let themselves be taken advantage of to the point that they'd work for, let's say $1 an hour, they'd still lose the jobs because the automated kiosks will work for nearly $0 an hour.

There are reports out there that robots can take over 38% of all US jobs within 15 years.

So these problems have very little - if anything - to do with the minimum wage.

I completely disagree. Politicians in this country DO NOT work for the people, never have. Maybe yours do in Finland but not here. Most are completely corrupt working for special interests, corporations and enriching themselves and their cronies. If they did work for the people we wouldn't have all the problems we do and getting worse daily.

Robots are quite expensive at this point in time and the burger joints would have rather waited til they got cheaper. $15.00 an hour pushed them to get robots much sooner. The minimum wage here was NEVER designed to survive on and be the living wage but made for teenagers to have part time jobs and supplemental income for others.

I understand that Fred, but originally minimum wage work was not designed to support, but rather supplement. Unfortunately due to the situation you just mentioned many are trying to use it for something its not meant for.

And society has shoved the thought that for our young people, if you grow up & don't go to college and get a degree in social behavior of the spotted iguana you are a total failure - So our youth are not learning trades anymore.... They just keep improving things even worse all the time

Amen, kids are afraid of getting dirty these days, very few young guys going into construction, great for me, as far as having more work than I can handle, but it's going to be a problem soon. When I need help the only guys I can find are 60 like me. I tell kids, you can make a good living at it, and it's a trade you can make extra cash at after work and weekends, unlike most jobs.

When I need help the only guys I can find are 60 like me. I tell kids, you can make a good living at it, and it's a trade you can make extra cash at after work and weekends, unlike most jobs.

Everything's cyclical, my dad said back in the 60s when all the manufacturing jobs were union, same thing, factory work was easier and steadier, there was a carpenter shortage. My dad was kind of disappointed I followed him into construction, I was sort of a prodigy in school as a kid, he thought I'd be a doctor or a lawyer or something, but he said at least as a carpenter, you'll never go hungry, you might not get rich, but there will always be work, no matter what the economy, and a robot will never take your job.
