My Rocket is broke

just to throw my 2 cents worth in the pot....I had the same thing about 2 years ago but have the relay kit fitted. I tried new battery, jump starting and a barrage of expletives but nothing worked.
My mechanic spent some time chasing wires and found a broken wire on the main battery lead but it was hidden under the plastic sheathe.
It cost $5.25 for the part and $160 to find the fault and fix it.
Moral of the story is get a volt metre and check as much as you can before heading off to the mechanic!!

Just to add to this...I have an '06 classic and when I replaced my ignition switch, the plug on my bike and the plug on the new ignition switch were different types/sizes. It wasn't a real big problem to cut/splice the plug from my old bad ignition switch to connect the new one though, since there is only a few wires, and all the colors matched. I soldered all my connections and shrink wrapped them.

Then when I installed the relay kit for my headlights, I switched over to 35w headlight and 35w fog light bulbs, then switched my turn signals and stop/brake light to leds. Greatly reduced the draw on my electrical system, and that gives up more power for my ignition system. The bike runs a lot better and my headlights are actually brighter than before.

Replacing the ignition switch is fairly simple...it is just a PITA to remove everything that is in the way and put it all back when you are done. The headlight relay kit is fairly simple too...might as well do it as well if you are replacing your ignition. You are already gonna have everything apart and the wiring exposed. And you save yourself the risk of having to do it all over again if the new ignition suffers the same fate as your old one.

Good luck...I know it really sucks when it doesn't wanna start/run.
