I remember an old movie called "Pete and Tillie" with Walter Matthau and Carol Burnett. Matthau and his son would screw with the obnoxious neighbor who constantly boasted about the gas mileage his VW beetle got for him. At night, Matthau and his son would sneak next door and put gas into the neighbor's Beetle and then try and keep a straight face as the neighbor was telling them about the 87 mpg he was now getting.

Who's living next door, xguidojr, and do you trust them?

In the movie, Matthau and son then started removing gas from the neighbor's tank and again, trying to keep a straight face, listened as the neighbor told of the woes of only getting 12 mpg and spending all kinds of money at the mechanic shop to figure out the "problem."

Keeping track of your mileage? Good idea. Especially if it goes to 12 mpg.

Silly advice from a fellow "featherwieght."

N1, there's a difference between being a featherweight and wearing a headdress full of feathers.

I looked it up.

At the very least it's a bold fashion statement. But then I'm not much for accessorizing.

Today, in my neighborhood, even I might become a kite - winds increasing to 45 steady, gusts to 55. This'll go on all summer.
 
103 miles to 4.3 gallons ........ this thing only gets 3 or 4 mpg better than my Dodge 2500 with the Cummins motor!



now there's a thought for a Boss Hoss...... 5.9 cummins with an intake, exhaust and programmer making ~390 hp and 750+ ft lb of torque.........
 
Cat V-8. Shorter block. The Cummins (and I have 2) might be too long such that the frame might need its own zipcode.

I like the idea. Instead of nitrous, you could inject with propane. And hauling a trailer might include anything up to a small Airstream or a 20' boat.
 
Did an 1,159 mile trip through Michigan's UP last weekend. I'm guessing that between myself, my wife and our gear, was hauling close to 500#. Overall mileage for the trip was just below 38 mpg. Best leg was 39, worst was 35, but that was climbing the "mountains" and long stretches in 3rd & 4th gear. Most of the highway driving was right around 65 mph. At one gas stop, went to 87 octane since there was no mid-grade there. Didn't notice any difference in mileage, but did feel a bit of a decline in acceleration, but maybe that was my imagination.
