My 2014 RT3 has been lighting up the check engine light randomly (but kind of regularly). It will be on for a bit, the ECU will reset it after a bit and then mysteriously it will come on again. Had the dealer check what the issue was and they said its a momentary voltage drop that trips the light.
My question is: am I heading toward a voltage regulator replacement, or is it nothing to be concerned about? They didn't seem too concerned.
Some background info: the alternator / stator was replaced last year. Before that it wasn't having a voltage drop.
There are no other issues, and it run fantastically. Zeros other issues.

They're having a bikes and breakfast meetup there this Saturday anyway, so I won't be going out of my way at all. Pancakes, sausages, hot coffee and motorcycles, that's kind of hard to pass up.

Check the condition of the voltage regulator wiring and the connections. May be loose or dirty / wet at the connector causing it to be intermittent and the light to come and go.
check engine light. when lit means that you have an ecu code. even if i goes out most likely there will stil be a code.
if the check engine light is blinking that means that the ecu has set a code and the ecu thinks that the system is working bad enough to damage the system.
for example injectors not closing flooding cat system or hydro locking piston.
or the light wire could be shorting.

Can a bad battery cause the engine warning light to come on?
I also have a 2014 roadster and today when I tried to start it the starter motor didn’t turn. Charged the battery and it just started but the engine light is still on with a steady light. The engine light have always turned off after starting the bike before. I didn’t dare to ride it more than back into the garage but the engine sounds and acts like normal.
Can a new battery make the light turn off or do it need resetting? How can that be done?
I have a small Bosch scanner about $100 that works great for reading and clearing codes.
You read the code and Wright down the number then you erace the code/codes if don't erace/clear then most of the time that means you have a problem that is there all the time (easier to deal with).
You need to get tuneecu to deal with problems. There is some threads on this.
Alot of code numbers are in the manuals
Post a code number and you will get help.

A basic multimeter will get you a long way. You can get those 3 numbers just keeping the multimeter in the battery borne as indicated. The result can point to a bad battery, a battery that needs to be charged or a charging system that is not working properly. Even one of these adapter that show the dc voltage connected to the aux port can get these values for you.
