Metzler Tire Prices!!!!

Rear Metz (and Avon Cobra) run to around AU$415 - $425 fitted. Triumph dealer charges a lot more, btw. Not sure if any of you guys in Queensland or Sydney or elsewhere in Oz can get them any cheaper but I did a ring around only a month or so ago and the price was pretty consistent. One place was cheaper but made up for it by charging for fitting - same total. Had mine done in 25 mins while I waited at Joe's - and checked out gear and helmets to fill in the time.

From what they charge in US and UK, we're getting screwed.

I wasn't too far off that mark after the cost of the tire, shipping, mount and balance. That is just too much money to keep rubber on a bike not used for racing, and **** underhanded of Triumph to force it's customers to use because of their choice of wheel size. One little inch either way in wheel diameter would have opened up our choices ten fold.

I don't remember who makes it or what it's called ... but I do remember seeing a picture here of a tire that had both features of car tire down the middle with bike roundness on the sides. I also remember that it was just one inch from fitting on our bikes and would have been the Perfect combination of durable, deep, flat tread and rounded, light weight soft compound sides for cornering. It was like it was special made for the Rocket in every way but one .... they didn't come in 16 inch diameter!!!!!

Triumph would have even saved a few pennies in materials by downsizing the rim to 15 inches without sacrificing any performance at all ... their only reason for 16 is to be in bed with Metzler. And to do that to their customers is disgraceful, if it was me it would take getting every OEM tire free, I doubt that's happening.

No, it actually looked like a car tire around the center and a bike tire on both sides, The shoulders of the tire were shaped (rounded) just like any other bike tire, but the center of the tread was nearly flat. Really cool looking tire.

I got a Rikan Raptor 225/55/R16 for $107 shipped to my door.
1 1/2 hours of my time and $40 to cut old metz off and mount CAR tire.
$147 total.
Try to beat that.

The lowest price I could find on the Metzeler ME880 240/50VR-16 was at BikerHaven.net. He's also on ebay. $200 shipped.
