Maggie valley June 2019

Surely others are drooling -- and we DO NOT have to go fast to have fun. We pulled over at an overlook (where y'all passed us) and a rider there insisted, the only good speed and the best speed is your own speed - whatever that is.
I told my fellow riders that I would not be hustling the Dragon today and to stay off the center line. The traffic is dangerous on this road. I drove a bit quicker on the other roads. Safe and unhurt is the most fun.

I actually made a video on this subject..related to riding the dragon.

You do not want to follow someone who is controlling your speed. (Possible exception is a fellow rider that you're familiar riding with or maybe an instructor type.)

You need to ride your own pace.

Traffic sucks. Traffic on the Dragon really sucks.

Agreed. Now that little road 360 out of Tellico Plains is a place to let er rip. I got a buck twenty there today.

We went from the bottom up, we never saw another vehicle in front or behind us, it was great. Rick and I were talking, we both felt it was way easier to follow someone, I've kept up with some pretty good riders here, but I don't think I could have rode that fast alone

We did the Dragon and Chrohala with a section of 28 today and the roads were dry and the sky was clear.

It’s a 280 mile day ride from the house in a loop.
@Dr.D are you familiar with "The Gauntlet"? I usually vacation near Andrews but am staying in Hiawassee, Ga. this time which is below Murphy. Lots of good riding around there but not familiar with The Gauntlet.
