Maggie valley June 2019

The last time I was down riding around Cherokee and the Area, we found a route called the Rattler, 209. Is this the type of short rides the group takes ?
Yes 209 is a great ride. Look at 208 then 212 to 352TN then down NC 19 to Mars Hill then follow 213 to Marshall get 1001 to 63 (Leister Hyw) and take New Found Rd. back to Canton and 23 to MV. 180 mile nice loop.

I'm working on routes right now for the event.

We usually have about three or four groups heading in different directions each day, some do a short route(about 3-5hrs inc lunch) others like a longer route5-8hrs(inc lunch) i know a few routes one being a local old mill onto Clingsmansdome then usually lunch in Gatlinburg, nice ride but some hiking is required at Clingsman Dome , now if I say I am leaving at 8am with a full tank and empty bladder I am leaving at 8am not 8:01

Sounds like some great rides. I've enjoyed a half dozen Vacations with friends in this area. Found out the Elk like to lay down on the road to Cherokee at night. Scared the sh!t out of us riding...

A few years ago I was sitting behind a few cars just out side Cherokee so I said eff it and started to go around them, not a good idea as a bear was slowly crossing the road and it gave me one dirty look.
On the same note on the way down from Clingsmansdome a few Japenese tourists were standing /pointing/taking pictures of two bear cubs:eek: me I was high tailing it as mama bear was probably close by.

Lol, you just reminded me of getting lost one night and sleeping on the road on an Indian reservation, woke up to someone honking their horn, good thing it was light out, the things you do when young......
