Parked my bike in the garage after my ride home yesterday and noticed my middle exhaust header heat shield is simply gone. Upon further inspection, the other ones can move a little bit with just finger tip pressure. I unscrewed the others and notice that there is a nut that's spot welded into a little bracket that's welded to the header. The spot welds on the nuts have failed and most of the nuts are just barely retained in the bracket now. My missing heat shield must have wobbled right out. Hopefully it's not a hassle to get it replaced under warranty. My concern is they'll just want to replace the one shield (and repair all the welds on the nuts), but the heat coloring on the 2 old shields will never match the new one. We'll see...

Has anybody else lost a heat shield or noticed they are loose?

have you removed or replaced the heat shields in the past? I wonder what made all the welds on the nuts fail! That's scary.

There should be nuts welded into those holes on that bracket, but I'm assuming they're still attached to the screws through the heat shield (wherever that is).

So picked up my bike yesterday from the dealership for this issue. Triumph authorized the replacement of the entire header down to the cat and all the heat shields. Very happy with the resolution not only by Triumph but by the dealership as well.

Good thing you still had all original exhaust on it.

Mine have come loose, but the welds are still solid. I simply had to re-snug the screws. I should also apply high heat thread locker.
