Looking for a rack to carry my R3

Trailer every time. Those rear racks just look too flimsy and knowing my luck some idiot would be looking at the bike and rear end me causing damage too hard to even think about:banghead:.

I can't do a full time system, so looking for the next best thing. Trust me, I'm skeptical about hanging my beloved off the back of my truck, that's why I'm throwing it out there... to see if it's been done, and any improvements.

Neither of these lifts are full time. Mine takes 3 bolts to remove , and comes out as a unit weighing about 200 pounds, I use an engine hoist to pull it out. The Rampage takes 5 bolts and comes out in 3 pieces you can handle. They are much safer and easier to use than the receiver mounts and you don't have to worry about a trailer.

Any pics of the system with bike on?

I've got a '11 Ram 2500 diesel, so it can carry it. I haul my 26' toyhauler loaded with no issues... I was more asking about that specific rack. It is a heavy bike, and it is hanging further out... I wanted to check anybody else's experience before I purchased it. I can always add extra tiedowns, or supports. But at least this would give me a base.

Sometimes it's good to drive and then go on the ride. I've got 1000 miles of I5 round trip (boring) to meet up with friends to do a 3 day trip. Looking for options.

Are you 100% sure about that? From the Ram website for the 3/4 and 1 tons:

The recommended tongue weight is between 10 percent and 15 percent of the gross trailer weight. However, the maximum tongue weight on Class III (the bumper ball) is limited to 500 pounds, and Class IV (the receiver hitch) to 1,200 pounds. Additionally, the GAWRs and GVWRs should never be exceeded.

Either way, I would get a towable solution. If storage space is an issue, there are plenty of folding trailers available, such as the following, to name a couple:
I guess there's always this option, but it looks like such a recipe for disaster that I'm not even going to include a link:

I have a receiver hitch. I'm going to give it a go. Do a test around town. I'll keep you posted.

That type of tow would scrap the transmission in the r3 because the trans would not be lubricated.
