Okay to settle all arguments here is a scientific study I had done about eight years ago, I first posted this study on the .com site then the .net site so here it is again.
The old members know that this is the truth the new members will probably not believe it until they try and run up against the famous Red Rockets .

Me personally I would skip on a 2005. Many problems possible or could be a sweet ride. Too iffy for my $7000. For a few bucks more you can get a little newer. Be patient and shop it.
9 yo bike. Not a chance... best advice would be to buy as later model as you can afford 2009 onwards. The older bikes can also be good but its a bit of a lottery if the upgrades have not been done.
That is not true here in the States, if there is a recall they will fix it even at 9 years old, they did one on my 05 just last month, i didn't even know about it until they told me:)

That's what I thought regarding recalls. So was the trans issue an official recall? If not, and let's say it wasn't fixed, would the problem have showed up by now?

Here we ***n go again..... yawn:roll:

What about this one? It's an 06 with the fancy (and I heard fastest) tribal pattern. It's the same money as the 05 and has less than 5000 miles vs 38000+ miles.

Looks tidy .. it's like any vehicle purchase .. consider previous owners (number and history) and overall condition. Less mileage nearly always a good selling point. Already has most of the accessories guys add. Blue tribal a rare colour .. only ever seen one in the 'flesh' myself.

I've said it before, low mileage on an older one could just mean it hasn't needed any of the upgrades yet. One that's been ridden a bit more likely to have had everything done. Not sure what the issues were with the '06s, though, so maybe low mileage is actually best. Important to check on the history of whichever one you get. Blue tribal is nice and even better because it's not boring old, common as muck, black.
