Could someone please point me in the right direction on this forum please. There are some posts detailing the socket installation process, I have searched again but can not find it this time. The one video on yt does not show the detail I need.

When you find this cable, could you please take a picture and also the distance pins width and distance between them (in mm if possible :D)? I would like to use this plug to power supply my GPS. Please also let me know if this is switched or permanent power source. If you don't have time for this I will check it out myself but if you help me that would speed up finding the right connector. Thank you in advance.

I plan to install it - from what I've read so far, it is a permanent power source (since it can be used for battery tender connection).
You supposedly have to remove the left side panel first - take off oil tank cap, remove the 2 screws inside and then remove dipstick, and then remove the ring that the screws were holding down. Then remove the side panel to get access to the harness where the power connector is taped down with blue tape.
I haven't done this yet (waiting on the socket to be delivered)

I've done it, and it was my video where I didn't show the fishing out the cable part as I forgot to press play. You will find the plug taped to the loom up high behind the side cover, and mine had blue tape on it. The finding was the easy part, the routing down to where it needed to be for the port was the hard part, but if you aren't using it for that purpose you should be ok. Good luck.

Well, that's really the only part I'm struggling with. I see the blue tape hiding in there and that must be it, so once I cut the tape I should be able to just pull it out?
