LED Headlights - Daymaker - 5.75" on Rocket Roadster

What I prefer is the "Straight Swap" ability of the HD ones unlike the "Speakers" where Relays and shell mods are suggested.
I had a longish chat with the UK rep's for Speaker. From what I gathered it's recommended (behind closed doors) that the HD versions should be equally served via relays. I am not surprised - LEDs and LED constant current drivers are rather fussy at times. Harleys (ime) run a slightly higher than average vehicle supply voltage. My R3 easily runs 0.5V lower than my old Softail did.

AFAIK the 2011 Roadster already feeds the headlights via relays ex factory.

alright i will agree. the headlights system will always be better with relays properly wired.
now if you want to compare numbers here is actual numbers from my rocket.
measuring the two bulbs h4 halogen 55/60 watts on low beams was 8.92 amps @ 13.48 volts.
measuring the two bulbs h4 halogen 55/60 watts on hi beams was 9.95 amps @ 13.48 volts.
i only have one daymaker on low beams was 1.9amps @ 13.48 volts.
on hi beams was 2.05 amps @ 13.48 volts.
***one daymaker and one h4 on hi read 6.56 eng off 12.2volts.

Barbagris Truck-Lite - NO!. Primo Rivera - YES!
it is hard to tell from the long paragraphs you wright but i am assuming that you recommend the primo rivera.
so if you want to put your money where your mouth and ship me one of those supper bulbs i will install it beside my daymaker and we will find out which is the best bulb.

Ohms Law would tend to agree with your halogen figures (thereabouts) Of course, LED's don't abide by that law neccesarily but I'd expect them to draw less current, however, who knows what witchcraft is attached to make them work and at what penalty. Looking at your figures it's considerably less load than tungsten.
I know with the LED lights I use in my job, TV lighting - we get a lot of light for very little current drain. This little puppy http://www.kinoflo.com/Products Button/LED/Celeb 200 DMX/Celeb200_DMX.html can run on a 24Volt Battery for quite a while, which was handy on a recent night shoot when the Generator failed. But I digress. Upshot is LED's should draw far less current for the equivilent LUX but watt for watt on 13.8v the current will remain constant. You can't change physics.
Need to check out the comparison figures in Lux now.

Here's the bottom line for me...Daymakers and 15 minutes of my time means I can ride at night. Original illumination made me nervous enough that I didn't ride at nite unless it was absolutely necessary or an emergency. I've had the Daymakers on for a while and they work. Best upgrade I've done by far

first of all i am old school. i recommend the daymaker because i like the way it keeps the low beam on when you go to hi beams. this allows you to see an animal if it runs in front of you when you are on hi beams. next it has what i would call a sweet spot that lights up your lane and one sweet spot on each side that lights up the sides. i like the way it works on hi beam and when you go to low beam you can still see real good (unlike the triumph bulbs you can't see but about 30 feet). now if some one can improve on that i would be impressed. THe fact that it draws lower amps is just icing on the cake.
so far the only pictures that i have seen are triumph and daymakers. if there is a better bulb out there show me. if it is a matter money i would say how much is your a$$ worth when the deer, cow or dog comes into view of your headlights. mine looks like **** because i could only afford one but at least i can see.
like i said i am old school SHOW ME!

Have to admit, they certainly look like they do the job and the black against the chrome looks cool (How does the light get out if they're black? :whitstling::laugh: )
Not sure if the exchange rate is fluctuating that much or HD have reduced the price but they seem to be a little cheaper than a month ago here (UK). What I prefer is the "Straight Swap" ability of the HD ones unlike the "Speakers" where Relays and shell mods are suggested.

Sorely tempted to raid the piggy bank.... Let's see what January brings. Might have to buy a new battery too, I think mine's dying :(

Nice looking air intake BTW where's that from?
The intake you see is a replacement bearclaw made by ozrider on this site.

Nuff sed. Very convincing argument. Did a journey a while back on fast country lanes. Crapped my pants (not literally) not being able to see far enough down the road. Might have just sold it to me.

I am astounded. Really. The old Daymaker which was identical to a JW Speaker 8630 does that but the dip goes when the main comes on. The new one has many more lenses - so I'm a bit surprised it only draws 0.15amps extra. Either the interior circuits waste current on Dip or the extra HIGH Leds are not drawing much.

That particular quote was referring to 5&3/4" offerings.
