Key Fob

I don't have a Rocket 3 (yet?) but I think I would ditch the smart key and use the spare key only.
Does anyone know:

1. If you only use the spare key (i.e. never use the smart key) can you still get the "out of range" message? I mean, does the software still look for the smart key from time to time?

2. Can the owner or the dealer disable the wireless feature altogether?

3. What would happen if you start the bike with the spare key, take off and then the bike shuts off when you decelerate to a stop (the "bug" described in other threads) - can you be sure that the ignition would still be on so you can restart the engine immediately or could the software shut the bike off completely, thus forcing you to take out your spare key from your pocket whilst sitting on the bike e.g. at an intersection? Anyone has real life experience of this?

If you disable the wireless feature how can you start the bike? In my book it says bike comes with 2 spare keys (which I dont have) do the keys have chips in them?
looking at pictures they just look like standard keys. another thing I’m not sure how you lock the steering with keys picture. I have no key barrels. I just turn the bars to the left and hit the lock switch to lock steering

Yes, the spare keys have a chip, so you can use them to start the bike. Why don't you have them, did you buy a used bike? The previous owner should have given you the spare keys, if not I would be seriously concerned.

The keys are not used for the steering lock, the manual is wrong on that one.

Reason I asked if it's possible to disable the wireless feature is that it doesn't offer any real convenience for me, only problems (actual and potentional).

Yes, the spare keys have a chip, so you can use them to start the bike. Why don't you have them, did you buy a used bike? The previous owner should have given you the spare keys, if not I would be seriously concerned.

Found the spare … posting it to me tomorrow . Just tried starting the bike with the fob key turned off … put it near the rear sensor (left rear pannier spot) and it starts just like the spare will…. So wondering why you need to turn the fob key on? Security in some way?

I don't think security as you need a key to start either way (except to lock steering). More of a convenience thing with the fob.
