K&N Filter Options

Beware of dirt, run the 2780s for 500 miles then pull one and rub your finger inside the throttal body, OMG.

BRYON540,
Anytime are going into building the engine internally, you should be aware that other systems need to be looked at as well, exhaust, intake, fuel, clutch, etc.

CR is not really in the business of building custom exhaust systems. None of their other kits come with them. As for pricing, that is another issue. But you might have some luck talking with Bob and Art.

thanks PT, seems I need something in between what I have now and the Carpenter package! maybe 10: 1 pistons mild porting, just a little more duration and lift! and 3 into 1 pipe, new filters! I have bad memories of the H.D. engine zippers built for me! came apart second year! after warranty! only 3500 miles! valve spring came apart and dropped the valve trashing entire rear cylinder! my problem is Im on the throttle most of the time! so life expectancy is very important! not a high roller! just a workin guy!

Triple 3

I like the triple filter look. how far can I mod without a tuneboy or pc3. Can I just change filters.

triple

First I'm sorry in advance. I just signed up and attempting to figure out how I post. question. Without tuneboy or pc 3 can I still change the filters? I like the RU- 1770 look. Thanks

Welcome Adam to the site. You'll find tons of useful info here.

Unfortunately, I'm not qualified to answer this one but my guess is the first answer will be, "It depends."

I'm not a hot-rodder but I was looking to smooth out some of the low speed jerkiness so I've added the triples and opened the secondaries to 100% across the board. This achieved what I was looking for. I'm not sure if I really need to do anything with the tune now but eventually I'll be heading down to Power-Tripp's so that he can work his magic.

If your interested, check out the TuneECU forum for a free competitor to Tuneboy.

In a nutshell, no. Freeing up the intake will lean the A/F ratio too much and Triumph has no canned tunes that will work to any degree. Besides, freeing up the intake will necessitate an exhaust change as well. You can't put it in without expelling it.

While I'm on this thread, later this year I'm going to come out with brushed (or machined) 6016 aluminum tops for the 2780's so you can run witout the claw if you want to.

I'm working out the designs right now........

I'll probably post a poll as to what everyone wants on the tops. Because there will be 3, I was thinking 'E' 'F' 'I' individually or whatever. I need some input on that end.

They will single stud mount to the top of the filter and secure with an insert fastener underneath. One small hole in the top of the filter will do it.

I suppose using "trademarked" logo's is out of the question? I'd be happy with the triumph triangle just like on the right side of the block.
Problem is, I would still want to run the prefilter covers and the caps might be a bit difficult to attach
I'd probably scrap the prefilters just to have the tops.

Don't know. I'll have to ask my mouthpiece about that. The pre-filters should work under the top. A very small hole to accomodate the stud that will be in the bottom of the top. The tops will have a milled ring on the underside that locates on the filter top to keep it aligned.
