Update. So, I was oh so close to catastrophe, but it turned out to be a simple fix. The chain guide bolt, backed out, completely, and sank harmlessly to the bottom of the oil pan. The crazy rapping that was heard was the guide being yanked back and forth by the chain. The chain was being pulled around by just a few teeth, but held on. There was no damage to anything except the affected parts. Now, I am thinking that it was off kilter from day one. Holy f$%k this thing is fast and furious.
