I've owned some noisy bikes but.....

The Rockets are not that noisy

That depends what you are comparing it to ,compared to the ISX 600HP Cummins in My Sons Mack Superliner the Rocket is Quiet ,but compared to the engine in my Mates Honda F6B it is noisy, the intake and exhaust also the tappets and timing chain and clutch all make a fair commotion on the Rockets compared to the almost silent Honda

If they're anything like my ole' shovelhead, you worry about them when they quit making noise :D

You are on the money there, my Shovel would idle that slow you could hear the individual strokes as the intake valve opened and the air was sucked into the cylinder each combustion stroke, loved that engine that's why it was always going to be a keeper,

They're coming to get it tomorrow. I bought it from a reputable dealer, and they seem very eager to get it taken care of. Any advice for dealing with Triumph and the dealer would be greatly appreciated, I am not a very demanding guy.

Your dealer will contact Triumph with their initial diagnosis, and Triumph will authorize the warranty service to make it right. Hopefully a simple adjustment will make it right, but if it has to be dug into, well, it will get you the bike you bought. But either way, here's hoping they do the needed things.

To echo what everyone else has said, get a NEW bike.

Triumph is no stranger to warranty work on Rockets, so, don't let them pretend like "We've never seen this before" and try and tap dance around getting a new bike. They have done it in the past for engine issues, numerous times, published right on these forums. Stand your ground, get a NEW bike, after all, you bought a NEW bike not a used one.

AT 90 k miles my 05 started making that exact noise while I was riding it. I thought for sure I would not make it home. Then it suddenly stopped a couple of miles later and I have not heard it since. What with all the noises the Rocket makes from time to time maybe they should have called it the Racket 3 instead.
