"ricochet, post: 224918, member: 4937"]Thank you sir. I just needed some time to cool off after a rough time, all is well now. I see you live in Houston, so you probably don't know what its like to go 5 months with out riding and sitting here in frozen temperatures... it will make you ****ing crazy![/quote]

Welcome back from Northern Michigan. Ski Doo time for me:)

I just got an email from the dealer here in my area saying they are getting 2014 models coming in "With new mapping that unlocks torque in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears"
Can someone tell me more about this? Is there a modification that can be done to earlier models to do the same thing? Is this the same thing as a timing retard eliminator for suzukis?

Yes there are several ways of detest riveting the earlier models all very easy
Either plug and play with a GIproAtr ( I think it's called)
Or the more commonly used method using TuneECU software to do it directly thru ECU

Hi Hanso,

Ok so its not actually like a physical limitation of the bike regarding gears or exhaust, but more along the lines of just updating the fuel controller or ECU to get the same power that he's referring to for the 2014s? I am familiar with the GIPRO as there is a version for the Suzuki's... helps clear up low speed lugging and opens up the RPM's all the way

Yea it's restriction is via the the ignition timing in the first three gears and also there is a physical restriction (secondary throttle plates) which is controlled by the ECU

If thats the case then I'm not sold on the 2014 (The sales person was gloating about it) This issue is the same on my Suzuki, 1st 2nd and 3rd are restricted with the ignition timing... If this issue can be resolved by a simple remapping or ATRE then I'm still interested in the 2012.... Waiting for more pictures of it.

If you make a fair enough offer! Right now I'm currently using it towards a possibly trade in... He's already made 3 offers on it. Not a bad investment over the years, would only lose about $2,000 bucks over the period of 5 years owning it!

Good day and welcome back.
I rode a boulevard all last couple of years, 90 and 109. I was also fortunate to spend a couple of weeks on a new 2012 V-max. I picked up my 2014 R3R a week and a half ago and can't wait till spring. Good luck.

Cheers
